Abstract

1,201,346. Photo-copying apparatus. ITEK CORP. Sept.28, 1967 [Oct.17, 1966], No.44148/67. Heading G2A. A photo-copying apparatus includes a roller having a flattened portion which is maintained adjacent the copy sheet when the sheet feed means is deactivated, and a drive means for rotating the roller a predetermined whole number of revolutions. As shown in Fig.2, the copy material 11 is fed by a roller 24 from a cassette 22 to an exposure platen 2, where it is projection printed. After exposure, a roller 32 having a flat portion 32 is rotated a whole number of revolutions to feed the sheet 11 to a developing station 62, the feed rollers 59 of which may rotate slower than the roller 32. A photo-electric detector 33 detects the leading edge of the sheet and deactivates the roller 24 and activates a knife 23 to cut the sheet. A light source 40 radiates across the sheet path on to the detector 33, comprising two photo-cells 39, 41, shown as an inset in the Figure. The cells are mounted on a pivoted lever 36 such that the light to photo-cell 41 is blocked before that of photo-cell 39 as the leading edge of the sheet passes over the light source 40, and the difference in output from the cells activates a logic bridge which deactivates a drive motor 26. An alternative detector, Fig.3, (not shown), has a sensing member of switch projecting into the sheet path. The apparatus may include a sequence timer 64 for continuous repeating reproduction. The original is placed in a holder which is pivoted near its lower end Fig.1 (not shown), so as to be counterbalanced and so as to extend inwardly into the apparatus, when opened, to cover the lights for illuminating the original.
