Abstract

1322962 Photographic apparatus EASTMAN KODAK CO 2 Sept 1970 [2 Sept 1969] 41933/70 Heading G2A In a camera for exposing and developing a web of sensitive material, the web can be transported at one of two different speeds. The camera 12 is mounted above a cathode ray tube display device 90, the image on the display screen being reflected into the camera by the arrangement described in more detail in Specification 1319277. The web is provided as a continuous reel 30, a predetermined length being fed by metering rollers 32, 33 to an exposure station 20. After exposure web transport is resumed, and a further length fed into the exposure station while the previous length is severed by a cutting assembly 38 and advanced by drive rollers 45, 46 to a heatting station 54. Here it is guided round a drum 56 by a guide plate 58 which also contains the heating elements. The sheet is now advanced by drive rollers 68, 69 to a developing station 74 where it is held in contact with a rotating drum 76 by a belt 84. The drum is transparent, and illuminated from within by ultra-violet lamps 78, so developing the latent image on the sensitive sheet, which is then stripped away from the drum by fingers 82 and directed through an exit opening 88 in the camera housing. The various operations are controlled by a low-speed motor 120 and a high-speed motor 117, Fig. 2 (not shown), which may be selectively coupled to a main drive shaft (123) which is itself selectively clutch-connected to a timing shaft 143. Shaft 143 carries a series of timing cams 145 etc. which control the actuation of a corresponding series of timing switches. Initially, a length of material is advanced into the exposure station, and the shutter 18 actuated to effect an exposure. The length of material is now severed and advanced at the higher speed until it is within the heating station 54, when the speed is changed to the lower value. After passing through the heating station at the lower speed, it is advanced at the higher speed to the developing station 74 through which it then passes at the lower speed again. It is then advanced at the higher speed once more to the discharge opening 88. The entire sequence of operations is controlled automatically by the circuit of Fig. 3 (not shown).
