Abstract

1,171,717. Guiding and tensioning threads. MACHINEFABRIEK L. TE STRAKE, N.V. 18 July, 1967 [19 July, 1966], No. 32920/67. Heading DID. A device for guiding a thread comprises a channel for the thread consisting e.g. of an outlet tube 1b an inlet tube 1a and an interconnecting passage 9, the channel having at least one discharge opening 11 or 12 for a fluid, the opening or openings being arranged so that fluid leaving a discharge opening flows towards one end of the channel. As shown compressed air fed to an inlet 16 can be directed to either discharge opening 11 or 12 by means of a slide valve 17 biassed by a spring 8 to normally supply air to opening 8. To thread up the channel which may be provided between a supply package and forwarding rollers, valve 17 is displaced so that compressed air flows from opening 12 and causes an air current to flow through the channel opposite to direction A. The thread end is applied to the end of tube 1a and is drawn' through the channel to be discharged at the mouth of tube 1b. After threading up, compressed air can be fed to opening 11 so as to act as a frame on the thread passing through the channel; alternatively the source of compressed air can be switched off.
