Abstract

A polymyxin is purified by a process which comprises treating an aqueous solution of the polymyxin with a permanganate at a pH not above pH 8.0. Examples describe the treatment of solutions of polymyxin B hydrochloride and of the sulphates of polymyxins A, B and E.
