Abstract

Suspension, e.g. paper pulp, is introduced to a chamber surrounding a tubular perforated screen, and filtered pulp passes inwards through the perforations, which are in the form of slots which widen out towards the inner surface, which partly defines a chamber from which filtered pulp is withdrawn. Vertically-arranged blades rotate close to the screen surface in the filtrate chamber to provide agitation and backwashing pulsations.
