Claims (37)

(III) generates an output signal forcing the display to display at least one of the identified objects associated with the generated input sequence as a text interpretation of the generated input sequence, and simultaneously display the identified unambiguous text interpretation that is associated with the input sequence.

(II) forming a display of at least one identified object associated with each selected input sequence, which is formed as a textual interpretation of the selected input sequence,
(Iii) responding to a unique signal generated by selecting one or more unique input signals by selecting one object from an identified set of at least one object in the storage device associated with the selected input sequence, and writing the selected object to the display position of the text entry on the display as a textual interpretation of the selected input sequence, and
(Iv) responding to a single-valued signal generated by selecting one or more single-valued input signals by identifying an input sequence associated with the object from the display position of the text entry and setting the identified input sequence as the selected input sequence.

(b) a storage device (104) comprising a plurality of objects, each of the plurality of objects being associated with an input sequence and frequency of use, in which each of the plurality of objects contained in the storage device corresponds to a sequence of Latin characters known as Romaji, in which the sequence of Latin characters corresponds to the phonetic spelling of the kana, and in which the phonetic spelling of the kana (kana) is associated with one or more Japanese words,
(c) a display (53) for outputting system output to a user, and
(d) a processor (100) connected to a user input device, a storage device and a display, said processor including:
(I) an identifying component for identifying from a plurality of objects in a storage device at least one object associated with each generated input sequence and having the highest frequency of use, and identifying any additional objects associated with each generated input sequence,
(II) an output component for displaying at least one identified object associated with each generated input sequence as a textual interpretation of the generated input sequence, and displaying any additional identified objects associated with each input sequence as additional textual interpretations of the generated the input sequence in decreasing frequency of use, and
(III) a selection component for selecting an identified object with the highest frequency of use for recording at a text entry display position after detecting manipulation of a user input device for unambiguous input, and selecting an identified object having a lower frequency of use for recording at a text entry display position after detection manipulation of the user input device for unambiguous input many times, and each manipulation of the user input device for unambiguous about input selects an object having the next lower frequency of use of the identified objects.
