Abstract

FIELD: recirculation of worn sulfur-vulcanized elastomeric materials. SUBSTANCE: chemical mixture is prepared from one or more chemical compounds which are capable of performing functions of rubber vulcanization accelerator, and one or more activators capable of initiating proton exchange at temperatures lower than 70 C and thus opening or disrupting vulcanized network of sulfur-vulcanized elastomeric material for obtaining regenerated sulfur- vulcanized electromeric material. Mixture comprises zinc salt of dimethyl dithiocarbamate and merceptobenzothiazole at molar ratio of 1:1 to 1:12, preferably dispersed in diols and activated in the presence of stearic acid, zinc oxide and sulfur. The mixture is then mixed with vulcanized elastomeric crumb at concentration of 6 parts of binder per 100 parts of rubber crumb in disintegrator which disrupts effectively the vulcanized network and renders chemical compound ready for molding and vulcanization. EFFECT: regenerated rubber mix shows satisfactory physical and dynamic properties.

Claims (1)

A method for recycling worn sulfur vulcanized elastomeric materials, which involves plasticizing said elastomeric materials at temperatures below 50 ° C. into a new chemical mixture that is capable of initiating proton exchange in a controlled manner and thereby open or break a vulcanized network of elastomeric materials. A new chemical mixture is prepared from one or more chemical compounds that can act as a rubber vulcanization accelerator, and one or more activators capable of initiating proton exchange at temperatures below 70 o C and thereby open or break a vulcanized network of sulfur-vulcanized elastomeric material to obtain a vulcanizable sulfur regenerated elastomeric material. The preferred mixture contains the zinc salt of dimethyldithiocarbamate and mercaptobenzothiazole in a molar ratio of 1: 1 to 12, mainly dispersed in diols and activated in the presence of stearic acid, zinc oxide and sulfur. After that, the mixture is mixed with vulcanized elastomeric chips in a concentration of 6 wt. hours binder for 100 hours of rubber crumb in a disintegrator, which effectively breaks the vulcanized network and makes the chemical compound ready for molding and vulcanization. The resulting recycled rubber composition shows a satisfactory level of physical and dynamic characteristics. Such mixtures can be used directly for the manufacture of molded products or can be mixed with fresh mixtures for the manufacture of car tires, and can also be used in related fields.
