Abstract

FIELD: recovery of liquid radioactive wastes of nuclear power plants and radiochemical integrated factories. SUBSTANCE: method involves mixing of liquid radioactive wastes with ceramics former, nitrate-anion reducer, and mineralizer, mixture dewatering to residual moisture content not over 10% at not over 100 C, stage-by-stage heating of dewatered mixture from 100 to 900 C, calcination at 900 C, and cooling down of ceramics-like material obtains. EFFECT: provision for preventing emission of toxic nitrous gases, improved safety of process and improved quality of product, facilitated procedure. 4 cl

Claims (1)

Usage: processing of liquid radioactive waste from nuclear power plants and radiochemical plants. The inventive method includes mixing liquid radioactive waste with a ceramic, a nitrate anion reducing agent and a mineralizer, dehydrating the mixture to a residual moisture content of not more than 10% at a temperature not exceeding 100 o C, stepwise heating the dehydrated mixture from 100 to 900 o C, firing at 900 ° C and cooling the obtained ceramic-like material. The method allows to prevent the release of toxic nitrous gases, increase the safety of the process, improve the quality of the resulting product and simplify the method.
