Abstract

FIELD: metal working. SUBSTANCE: method of heat treatment of steels with 0.17-0.35% C and 0.35-1.20% Mn includes cooling metal escaping from the last mill stand in air to ambient temperature followed by second heating to 760-790 C, cooling to ambient temperature, and third cooling to 670-700 C with subsequent cooling in air. EFFECT: removed internal stress and spheroidizing of carbides, and increased resistance of pipes against sulfide corrosion cracking.

Claims (1)

Usage: heat treatment of metals, mainly oil pipes. Objective: increase the resistance of products to sulfide stress corrosion cracking in environments with a low content of natural and bacterial hydrogen sulfide. The inventive method of heat treatment of pipes from low-carbon (C = 0.17-0.35%) manganese (Mn = 0.35-1.2%) steels involves cooling upon leaving the last mill stand in air to a workshop temperature, after which is followed by reheating to 760-790 o С with water cooling to the workshop temperature and a third heating to 670-700 o С followed by cooling in air, which relieves internal stresses and spheroidization of carbides and increases the resistance of pipes to sulfide corrosion cracking.
