По способу плазмохимический пиролиз углеводородов предназначен преимущественно для получения ацетилена с обеспечением высокой эффективности процесса, в том числе исключается образование цианистых соединений, что в свою очередь снижает затраты на концентрирование и выделение этого продукта. Данный процесс характеризуется тем, что в плазмообразующий газ плазмохимического пиролиза углеводородов вводят водяной пар. Смесь включает углерод углеводородов и кислород воды в следующем мольном соотношении 1:(1:1,5) предпочтительно 1:1,1. В качестве плазмообразующего газа используют хвостовые углеродосодержащие газы.
