Toys are presented as wooden round-shaped objects which are steeped beforehand in 8-10% infusion of fish flour for 3-4 hours and then are fixed over the pens at the level 50-60 cm over the floor so that they can be adjusted vertically.

Description

The invention relates to the field of animal husbandry, in particular to methods of keeping pigs for fattening.

A known method of keeping pigs for fattening, providing for the formation of groups of animals, feeding, drinking, exercise. In order to reduce the level of aggression among animals in the known method, tranquilizers are used, for example 5a-androst-16-en-3-one (Peterick J, Carol, Blackshaw J, "Austral. J. Exp. Agr.", 1987, 27, No. 5, 605-611).

The disadvantage of this method is the high cost of tranquilizers, which prevents their regular use. In addition, the effect of tranquilizers on the development of animals and human aftereffect when eating meat is not well understood.

Closest to the proposed application is a way of keeping, providing for the formation of groups of animals, subsequent small-group keeping in the machines, feeding, drinking, exercise. To reduce the frequency of collisions between animals, toys or other objects, such as a metal chain, etc., are placed on the floor in machine tools. However, when using this technique, the aggressiveness of animals decreases only slightly.

The technical solution to the problem is the prevention of cannibalism in animals.

This object is achieved by the fact that in the method of keeping pigs for rearing and fattening, involving the formation of groups of animals, subsequent small-group maintenance in machines using toys, feeding, drinking, exercise, according to the invention, wooden objects of rounded shape that are pre-soaked in 8-10% infusion of fishmeal for 3-4 hours and movably fixed above the machines with the possibility of vertical movement at a level of 50-60 cm from the floor.

The novelty of the proposed proposal lies in the fact that soaking the toys in the infusion of fishmeal allows the use of such forms of chemoreception as taste and smell to distract the animals from each other, reduce the level of aggressiveness and, ultimately, prevent cannibalism in pigs.

The method of keeping pigs on rearing and fattening is as follows.

Pre-receive a 10% infusion of fishmeal by brewing fishmeal with boiling water in a ratio of 1:10, the resulting mixture is cooled to 60-70 ° C, placed in it wooden toys of rounded shape and insist for 3-4 hours. The placement of wooden toys in the infusion at a temperature of 60-70 ° C contributes to a deeper diffusion of liquid into the tree. To save the consumption of fishmeal while ensuring a uniform infusion and persistent manifestation of taste and olfactory effect, it is recommended to use a 10% infusion of fishmeal. The use of infusion of fish meal of a lower concentration does not provide a sufficient manifestation of the taste and olfactory effect, and a higher concentration does not make sense, because there is a large consumption of flour. Then wooden toys are suspended above the machine with the possibility of vertical movement at a height of 50-60 cm from the floor. Placing objects at a level of 50-60 cm corresponds to the position of the head of the pigs and ensures maximum use of olfactory reflexes of animals. Installing them movably, for example on springs, increases their gaming attractiveness. The implementation of "toys" from a tree completely eliminates the injuries of animals when they bite.

This method was tested on the pig farm of the farm "Kuban" Kuban State Agrarian University. 2 groups of piglets of 25 animals each at the age of 1-3 (rearing) months and 2 groups of 25 animals at the age of 3-6 months (fattening) were formed. All groups used dry type of feeding, nipple drink. In the control groups, immediately after their formation, a metal chain was placed on the floor. In the experimental groups, a wooden object, previously soaked in an infusion of fish meal, was suspended at a level of 50-60 cm from the floor.

Studies have shown that in the experimental groups the number of collisions between animals was reduced and cannibalism was completely prevented. In the control groups, there were facts of biting animals, and at the end of the observations in each of these groups, 2 piglets in the nursery and 3 piglets in the fattening were bitten off.

Thus, the expediency of using wooden objects that had previously been soaked in an infusion of fishmeal was experimentally proved.
