Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a new method for producing high-quality activated carbons (AC) from plant materials at relatively low carbonization temperatures (300-350 ° C) and steam activation (at a temperature of ≤850 ° C) without the use of synthetic or mineral additives and without the use of a binder component. ACs obtained in this way are used as sorbents for the purification of drinking and process water from trace elements, extraction of rare and precious metals from solutions, removal of toxins from blood plasma, and as carriers for salt catalysts (catalysts for the synthesis of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate). The new method allows to increase the adsorption capacity and porosity of coal due to a significant increase in the volume of mesopores.
Известный способ приготовления АУ представляет собой метод окисления первичного гранулированного угля в реакторе при 160-320°С в присутствии газа, содержащего 2-10% О2, обуглероживания при 600°С и активации при 900-950°С с помощью смеси СО2+Н2О (Японский патент №1317113, C 01 В 31/10, 21.12.89).A known method for the preparation of AC is a method of oxidizing primary granular coal in a reactor at 160-320 ° C in the presence of a gas containing 2-10% O 2 , carburizing at 600 ° C and activation at 900-950 ° C using a mixture of CO 2 + H 2 O (Japanese patent No. 1317113, C 01 B 31/10, 12/21/89).
The complexity of the technology when using mixtures of CO 2 + H 2 O at high temperature and equipment design under conditions of corrosion of the walls of the reactor is a disadvantage of this method.
Причем процесс карбонизации проводят при максимальной температуре 900°С (Российский патент №RU 2064429, 6 С 01 В 31/08, 27.07.1996).The prototype closest to the invention in technical essence is a method for producing activated carbon from fruit seeds and / or nutshells, including processing them with an alkaline solution (2-5 N) at 95-100 ° C for 2-8 hours, then a solution of hydrochloric acid (3-4 N.) and a concentrated solution of phosphoric acid at 95-100 ° C. Moreover, the carbonization process is carried out at a maximum temperature of 900 ° C (Russian patent No.RU 2064429, 6 C 01 B 31/08, 07/27/1996).
The disadvantages of this method, selected as a prototype, are that, firstly, activated carbon obtained by the specified technology, even under normal operating conditions of products has a reduced sorption capacity with respect to vapors of organic substances due to the fact that more than 60 -70% of the skeleton of the starting material is destroyed during the carbonization process [1] and even more so during the activation process of primary coal at the same temperature (700-900 ° C). As a result of such activation, the yield of coal is not more than 5-7% of activated carbon with the lowest strength (according to our data, not more than 9-10% of abrasion). In addition, the processing process is quite complicated and requires a lot of energy. Secondly, at elevated temperatures (≥200 ° C), thermal decomposition of high molecular weight polyalcohols occurs with the assistance of a metal and acid hydroxide residue [2]. Thus, the carbon sorbents obtained in this way have a narrow spectrum of action.
The purpose of the invention: the development of a method for producing AC from plant materials with high porosity and adsorption capacity due to an increase in the volume of mesopores, at a lower carbonization temperature and a decrease in activation time and, therefore, at lower energy and raw material costs.
The inventive goal is achieved by the method described below for processing the starting plant materials (coconut shell, sugarcane, pine, birch, fruit and berry seeds), as well as fossil coals.
The method is as follows:
а) предварительная обработка растительных материалов в резервуарах с водой в течение 24 дней в атмосфере воздуха с последующей сушкой на воздухе в течение 2 месяцев с подогревом до 25-30°С (до тех пор, пока на поверхности материалов не появляются трещины);a) pretreatment of plant materials in water tanks for 24 days in an atmosphere of air, followed by drying in air for 2 months with heating to 25-30 ° C (until cracks appear on the surface of the materials);
б) карбонизация подготовленного сырья без доступа воздуха при температуре 300-350°С в потоке азота (12 нл/ч на 1500 г исходного материала);b) carbonization of the prepared raw materials without access of air at a temperature of 300-350 ° C in a nitrogen stream (12 nl / h per 1500 g of the starting material);
Активацию проводят при 750-850°С в течение 3-4 часов с расходами азота 12 нл/ч и водяного пара 2,5-4,5 нл/ч на 500 г первичного угля.c) steam activation in a tubular reactor with dimensions of 60 × 600 mm, rotating in an electric furnace. 500 g of primary coal are charged to the reactor. Activation is carried out at 750-850 ° C for 3-4 hours with a flow rate of nitrogen 12 nl / h and water vapor 2.5-4.5 nl / h per 500 g of primary coal.
Distinctive features of the proposed method from the known one is that the preliminary processing of plant materials is carried out by treatment with water for 24 days - 2 months and drying at 20-30 ° C in an air stream for 2 months, as well as the specification of the parameters of carbonization and activation.
