Description
The utility model relates to mechanical engineering, namely to brake bands for band-block brakes of various machines and equipment.
An analogue of the claimed utility model is a brake band, including a metal (steel) band, and linings fixed on it, having a hardened surface layer (see patent RU 182687, IPC F16D 13/62, 2018). The essential features of the analogue “metal tape, linings fixed on it” coincide with the essential features of the claimed utility model.
The disadvantage of this analogue is the long period of so-called “running-in” of the brake band to the counterbody, due to the non-optimal shape of the linings and the presence of a hardened surface layer.
The closest analogue of the claimed utility model is a brake band, which includes a metal band with linings fixed on it, which have different wear and friction properties (see patent RU 2531535, IPC F16D 49/08, 2014). The essential features of the closest analogue, “a metal strip with linings fixed on it,” coincide with the essential features of the claimed utility model.
The disadvantage of the closest analogue is also the long duration of the period of running-in of the brake band to the counterbody.
The problem to be solved by the claimed utility model is to reduce the break-in period of the brake band by optimizing the overall dimensions of the linings in order to quickly obtain an equilibrium roughness and the minimum required coefficient of mutual overlap of the brake band with the counterbody.
To achieve the specified technical result in a brake band, including a metal band with linings fixed on it, each of the linings is made with a thickness difference (variation in thickness) from 2% to 5% of the lining thickness.
The essential features of the claimed utility model “each of the linings are made with a thickness difference from 2% to 5% of the thickness of the lining” are distinctive from the features of the closest analogue.
The brake band contains a metal (steel) band on which several brake linings made, for example, of a polymer composite friction material are fixed by riveting, gluing, etc. The pads have a certain average thickness, and each pad is made in some areas with a thickness greater than this average thickness, and in some areas less than the average thickness. There may also be areas of medium thickness. Variation in thickness (variation in thickness) of the linings, i.e. the difference in the thickness of the lining in individual areas ranges from 2% to 5%, i.e. the section of the lining with the maximum thickness differs from the section of the lining with the minimum thickness by an amount ranging from 2% to 5% of the nominal (average) thickness of the lining.
The inventive brake band can be manufactured using known methods, for example by fixing linings with the desired geometry on a metal band.
A specific example of the inventive brake band is a brake band for a tracked vehicle, including friction linings with a thickness of ≈9 mm and a thickness variation of ≈0.4 mm, made of a polymer friction composite.
In the initial period of tribocoupling, a brake band with linings of different thicknesses will contact the counterbody only in areas of the greatest thickness of the linings. Since the friction coefficient does not depend on the areas of contacting surfaces, the tape will retain its ability to brake, but at the same time the specific mechanical and thermal loads on areas with greater thickness will increase significantly. This will lead to rapid wear of areas with greater thickness and the appearance of the necessary equilibrium roughness on them, as a result of which the mutual overlap coefficient will reach a value close to optimal. In the future, the remaining areas of the linings will come into operation, and the running-in will be completed in a shorter period of time. If the thickness difference is less than 2%, then there will be no noticeable gain in running-in time. If the difference in thickness of the linings is more than 5%, then both complications may arise during installation of the product and an increase in the running-in time, especially in the case of using a wear-resistant composite for the manufacture of linings.
