Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for cleaning liquid radioactive waste and can be used in radiochemistry.
"Management of Low-Level Radioactive Waste" v. 1, 1979, p. 393-398). A known method of extracting the concentration of uranium and plutonium when passing through ultrafiltration membranes solutions of special laundry and decontamination containing radioactive elements in a colloidal or suspended state (Raymond C. Roberts, John W. Koenst of Low-Level Radioactive Waste "v. 1, 1979, p. 393-398).
The disadvantage of this method is that if the radioactive elements are in dissolved ionic form, then they penetrate almost unhindered even through finely porous ultrafiltration membranes.
Closest to the proposed technical essence and the achieved technical result is a method for the selective extraction and concentration of actinide elements during ultrafiltration of solutions of polyethyleneimine with additives of complexes (Korpusov SG, Novikov AP, Shkinev VM "Concentration of actinide elements during ultrafiltration solutions of polyethyleneimine with additives of complexes. "Radiochemistry N 1, 1992, S. 169-172 - prototype). Uranium in the oxidation state +6 and plutonium in the oxidation state +4 after the addition of polyethyleneimine and diethylene tetraamine pentaacetate (DTPA) were supplied to ultrafiltration. The established retention rates were 75% for uranium and only 7% for plutonium. The low degree of confinement of radioactive elements is the main disadvantage of this method. This disadvantage is due to the fact that uranium and plutonium form neutral complexes in DTPA, which are relatively weakly bound by polyethyleneimine, and therefore pass through the pores of ultrafiltration membranes.
The technical task of the invention is to obtain a high degree of retention of uranium (up to 100%) and plutonium (up to 90%).
The result is achieved by adding to the solutions containing uranium and plutonium liquid-soluble chitosans in amounts exceeding the content of uranium or plutonium by 4-6 times.
Liquid-soluble poly (1,4-β, D-glucosamine) chitosan has a structure corresponding to the structural formula
Due to the high selective retention ability, liquid-soluble chitosans form strong complexes with uranium and plutonium, which are almost completely retained by the ultrafiltration membrane.
90%. The proposed method allows to increase the degree of retention of uranium to 100%, and the degree of retention of plutonium to 90%.
The method is as follows. In a solution with a pH of 6.1 containing uranyl nitrate in a concentration in terms of uranium of about 100 mg / l, a solution of chitosan with a molecular weight of 15,000 cu is added. in an amount of from 100 to 800 mg / l. After mixing and holding for half an hour, the solution is sent to ultrafiltration through a UPM-P-450 membrane (pore size 450 • 10 -10 m). The resulting filtrate passing through the membrane and the retained concentrate was analyzed for uranium content on a KFK-2MP photocolorimeter. It was found that doses of chitosan of less than 400 mg / l are not enough to completely retain uranium. At chitosan concentrations of 400 mg / L and higher, uranium is retained almost completely (concentration in the filtrate <0.1 mg / L). The optimal dose should be recognized as liquid soluble chitosan in the range of 400-600 mg / l, i.e. 4-6 times the uranium content in the initial solution.
Similar experiments were carried out with plutonium solutions, but for him, an increase in the concentration of liquid-soluble chitosan over 400 mg / L did not lead to an increase in the retention rate to 100%. It reached 90%, which, however, is much higher than in the known method.
Thus, the proposed method for the extraction and concentration of uranium and plutonium allows you to bring the degree of retention of uranium to 100%, and plutonium to 90%, which makes it possible to apply this method at radiochemical plants for the treatment of liquid radioactive waste.
