Abstract
Description
The invention relates to veterinary medicine and can be used for the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases of young farm animals.
(1). In veterinary medicine, for pathogenetic and symptomatic therapy and prevention of gastrointestinal diseases, drugs with enveloping (hydroxide or aluminum phosphate gels, starch paste) and adsorbing properties (activated carbon, therapeutic lignin - polyphepan) are used (1).
For the same purpose, a mucous decoction of flaxseed, which has enveloping, anti-inflammatory properties, is used, prepared and used for neonatal diarrhea of farm animals according to the instructions for its use.
It is known that pectins that enter the gastrointestinal tract gel and acquire anti-inflammatory - enveloping - properties, and are also able to inhibit the growth of putrefactive microorganisms in the intestine, exhibit a detoxifying effect by adsorbing toxins of microorganisms, heavy metal ions, including radionuclides, glycosides, alkaloids, phenol and other harmful substances. Nevertheless, pectins, as such, are not used in veterinary medicine for therapeutic purposes. They are only components of the active principle of many medicinal plants used in veterinary medicine for the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases of farm animals. Pectin-containing infusions and decoctions contain pectin substances in a relatively low concentration (not more than 0.1 - 0.2%) (2). Their preparation requires significant labor costs for livestock breeders, which reduces the economic efficiency of their use.
The purpose of the invention is the expansion of the arsenal of drugs exhibiting therapeutic and prophylactic efficacy in gastrointestinal diseases of young farm animals.
(10-60%)). To achieve the above goal, we propose pectosorbin - a plant-derived preparation obtained by the known method (3) and which is a product of hydrolysis of the bark of coniferous and deciduous trees, beet pulp, apple and grape squeezes, citrus and other plants containing pectins (40-90 %) and the lignin complex (cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin and monosaccharides (10-60%)).
Pectosorbin is a homogeneous powder from light gray to cream in color with a slightly acidic taste, odorless, forms a suspension with water, and in an acidic environment, the abomasum or stomach (in monogastric animals) forms a jelly-like mass.
(4). Pectosorbin has enveloping and emollient properties in relation to the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract. It forms a protective soft coating on the ulcerated surface of tissues, inflamed areas - a colloidal film that protects tissues and sensitive nerve endings in them from irritation, providing anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-peristaltic effects. The constituent components — pectins and the lignin complex — provide an adsorbing, detoxifying effect, interfere with the absorption of poisons (salts of heavy metals, including radionuclides, alkaloids, glycosides, phenol and others) and toxins formed in the intestine, inhibit growth and vital activity putrefactive bacteria in the digestive tract (4).
According to the level of acute toxicity, pectosorbin belongs to the 4th hazard class (low-hazard substances) according to GOST 12.1.007-76. It does not have cumulative properties, skin-resorptive and sensitizing effect.
Pectosorbin is recommended for use in veterinary medicine for the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases with a symptom complex of diarrhea, mainly dyspepsia, colibacteriosis, with catarrhal hemorrhagic and ulcerative enterocolitis, with poisoning with salts of heavy metals.
In recommended doses, the drug does not cause complications, has no contraindications; slaughter for meat of animals that used pectosorbin is carried out without restrictions associated with its use. The use of pectosorbin does not exclude the appointment of other drugs, and for infectious diseases of the intestine it is used together with antimicrobial agents.
Before use, the drug is mixed with boiled water in a ratio of 1: 20. Pectosorbin is used 30 minutes before feeding or with food for therapeutic purposes at a dose of 0.22 - 0.23 g / kg of animal weight 3 times a day until recovery, with a preventive purpose - starting from the first colostrum drink in a dose of 0.16 - 0.17 g / kg of an animal 3 times a day for 5 days.
- содержание пектиновых веществ в высокой концентрации - в 20 - 90 раз выше, чем в настоях и отварах лекарственных растений, наиболее богатых пектиновыми веществами;
- совместное содержание пектиновых веществ и лигнинового комплекса;
Distinctive features of the proposed drug are:
- the content of pectin substances in high concentration is 20 - 90 times higher than in infusions and decoctions of medicinal plants, the richest in pectin substances;
- the joint content of pectin substances and a lignin complex;
- ease of use.
The method is illustrated by examples.
1).Example 1. In order to prevent gastrointestinal diseases, in particular dyspepsia, the drug was administered with food (colostrum) at a dose of 0.16 - 0.17 g / kg of calf weight in two experimental groups of 11 animals each. The drug was suspended before use in warm (37 o C) boiled water in a ratio of 1:20. The calves of the control group (11 goals) received flaxseed mucus according to the instructions for its use. These drugs were used against the background of the method adopted at the farm for the prevention of diarrheal diseases of young animals. 72.7% of calves fell ill with dyspepsia in the control group, 45.2% of them had a severe or moderate form of the disease, and in the experimental groups 36.3 and 18.2% of calves respectively (Table 1).
Example 2. For the purpose of treatment, the drug was used with food (milk, colostrum), and when prescribing a hungry diet, in the form of an aqueous suspension. Before use, the drug was mixed with water, as described in example 1. Calves of two experimental groups (15 animals each) received pectosorbin at a dose of 0.22 - 0.23 g / kg body weight three times a day until recovery (cessation of diarrhea). The calves of the control group (15 goals) were fed flaxseed mucus according to the instructions. The use of these agents was accompanied by the treatment of diarrheal disease in an accepted manner on the farm.
In the calves of the experimental groups, the disease was easier than in the control: all the calves recovered, there were 20.3 and 26.7% of the sick in moderate and severe forms in the first and second experimental groups, respectively, the duration of the disease was reduced to 2 days, the percentage of relapses - to 6.7 and 13.3, that is, 2.1 - 5 times compared with the control. In the control group, 6.7% of calves fell, in moderate and severe forms 73.3% of calves fell ill, 33.3% had a relapse, the duration of the disease was 4.5 days (table 2).
Thus, pectosorbin is a complex preparation containing anti-inflammatory, enveloping and adsorbing substances (pectins and a lignin complex) in high concentrations (40 - 90 wt.% Pectins).
Pectosorbin has a pronounced therapeutic and prophylactic efficacy in neonatal gastrointestinal diseases of young farm animals. In a production experiment, it was shown that the prophylactic effectiveness of the drug was 63.7%, therapeutic - 100%. When using the drug - the prototype of the mucous decoction of flax seed - 27.3 and 93.3%, respectively. Pectosorbin reduces the period of illness by 2.2 times, the percentage of relapses - by 5.0 times, animals are ill in a milder form compared to the use of the prototype drug.
Pectosorbin is convenient to use, environmentally friendly and, according to toxicometric parameters, meets the requirements for veterinary drugs used enteral.
