Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the treatment of wastewater containing anionic synthetic surfactants (SAS), and can be used in various industries related to the production and use of SAS.
Currently, electrochemical methods, such as electrocoagulation, are widely used to treat wastewater from surfactants.
A known method of treating wastewater from surfactants [1] according to which the wastewater is subjected to treatment with calcium chloride followed by electrocoagulation with an aluminum anode at a current density of 0.010-0.12 A / cm 2 for 15-12 minutes
The introduction of calcium chloride additives in water prevents passivation of the anode, but at the same time creates a new source of water pollution. In addition, this method also does not provide cleaning from surfactants to the maximum permissible concentration.
As a rule, wastewater is difficult to clean from surfactants by any one method. Therefore, cleaning technologies that combine various methods, such as electrocoagulation and sorption, are often used.
Closest to the claimed object in technical essence is a method of purifying water from surface-active substances [2] comprising electrolysis using aluminum electrodes, followed by passing water through a sorbent. In accordance with this method, sodium perchlorate is introduced into the purified water before electrolysis to its concentration in water equal to 0.01-0.05 N, then the water is sent to the electrocoagulator unit, where the electric field strength is 30 V / cm. After treatment in an electric field, the water is filtered through a mechanical filter and then fed to sorption columns with an ion-exchange resin and activated carbon.
The use of this method improves the quality of the water being purified, however, the addition of sodium perchlorate introduces additional polluting components into the water. In addition, this method requires the use of expensive and scarce sorbents, such as ion-exchange resin and activated carbon. The introduction of an additional filtering operation through a mechanical filter increases the process time and slows down the cleaning rate. In general, well-known technology seems quite complicated and expensive.
The aim of the invention is to increase the degree of purification of wastewater from surfactants.
To achieve this, in a method for treating synthetic surfactants from wastewater, including the operation of electrocoagulation followed by passing water through a sorbent, according to the invention, the time of electrolysis of water during electrocoagulation is 10-40 minutes, and shungite is used as the sorbent.
It is expedient to use as a sorbent shungite calcined at 500-550 C for 2-3 hours.
Electrocoagulation time of 10-40 min is the optimal interval during which the degree of extraction of surfactants in the foam concentrate reaches a maximum. After 40 minutes of electrocoagulation, the foam gradually begins to fall, and the surfactant again passes into the wastewater. The use of natural material of Karelian shungite as a sorbent, which is a rock containing carbon and silica in a chemically active form, provides good quality of wastewater treatment from surfactants. The most highly purified (92.2%) obtained by using shungite modified by calcining for 2-3 hours at 500-550 ° C. Under these conditions, there is a sharp increase in the number of pore sizes 80-200 which are very favorable for the sorption of surfactants.
The method is as follows.
Wastewater containing anionic surfactants is fed into the electrode chamber of the electrocoagulator and subjected to electrolysis for 10-40 minutes. The water then flows into the settling zone electrocautery where to stand for 1-3 hours. The solution was passed through a sorption column filled shungite modified as a result of heat treatment at 500-550 C for 2-3 hours.
П р и м е р 1. 1).PRI me R 1. Industrial wastewater containing after flotation 2.3 mg / l anionic surfactants (preparation "Elva-2") was passed through a laboratory electrocoagulator at a speed of 50 ml / min, where a constant voltage was maintained on aluminum electrodes current 12 V. The current density ranged from 60-70 A / m 2 . The residence time of the solutions in the electrode chamber was 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 min. Then, the solutions entered the settling zone of the electrocoagulator, where they settled for 2 hours. In each of the solutions subjected to electrolysis for the indicated time periods, the content of surfactants was determined at the outlet from the settling zone of the electrocoagulator by the photocolorimetric method (see Table 1).
After electrocoagulation, the solutions were passed through an adsorption column with a diameter of 45 mm filled with natural schungite with grain sizes of 3-5 mm, where it formed a
After sorption, the concentration of surfactants in water was monitored by the above method.
1. The results of the analyzes are shown in table. 1.
П р и м е р 2. PRI me
2.After electrocoagulation, the solution was passed through an adsorption column filled with shungite, modified as a result of heat treatment at 400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 650 о С for 1.0; 1.5; 2.0; 2.5; 3.0; 3.5; 4.0 hours. After sorption, the concentration of surfactants in water was monitored. The control results are presented in table. 2.
Studies have shown that when treating wastewater from anionic surfactants, the most effective is the combination of electrocoagulation and sorption methods. During electrocoagulation, the time of electrolysis of water is of great importance, and it was found that the time is optimal 10-40 minutes. Good results are obtained by the use as a sorbent shungite calcined at 500-550 C for 2-3 hours, since in these conditions significantly increase the adsorption capacity of shungite with respect to anionic surfactants by increasing the amount of a pore size of 80-200 (the most favorable sizes for the sorption of surfactants).
Using the proposed method provides a high degree of water purification and allows to reduce the content of anionic surfactants to the maximum allowable concentrations.
