The claimed utility model relates to the field of tools for processing wood and chopping firewood.

From the patent RU 169627 U1 (published on March 24, 2017), the closest analogue of the claimed utility model is known, which relates to devices for splitting materials and can be used to separate wood or other solid materials into small parts. The device includes a lower base, an upper limiting element for holding cracked material, connected to the base by means of racks, and a cutting tool connected to the racks. The cutting tool contains a vertically oriented blade facing the restrictive element, as well as ribs connected to the blade, protruding beyond the dimensions of the blade on both sides. These ribs are oriented vertically and placed at a distance from each other. The disadvantage of the analogue is the lack of efficiency in obtaining firewood and wood chips by splitting.

The problem to which the claimed utility model is directed is to solve the problem of expanding the arsenal of technical means for splitting wood, in particular for the efficient production of firewood, wood chips in domestic conditions.

The technical result is to provide increased productivity and efficiency of obtaining firewood and wood chips by splitting.

The technical result is achieved by the fact that the claimed device for splitting wood includes a housing consisting of a frame structure made of two steel circles (1) and welded vertical steel rails (2), and

and a welded construction of a firewood splitting assembly consisting of a cutting part (3) provided on a transverse guide and guide ribs welded to a transverse guide, the four central guide ribs (5) being pairwise doubled and spaced N, where N is the distance between the central ribs, mm, and the remaining guide ribs (4) are located with a step (1,6-2) N;

ensured deflection on the guide ribs for faster separation of chopped pieces of firewood,

in general, when using the claimed device for splitting wood, it is possible to work with firewood of a larger diameter and with firewood having a complex and heterogeneous structure, thereby increasing the productivity and efficiency of producing firewood and wood chips by splitting.

The principle of operation of the claimed device is that a wooden log is placed vertically in the claimed device for splitting wood onto the edge of the cutting part, inside the upper ring of the device for splitting wood, then a hammer is struck from above. In this case, the energy from each impact is concentrated at one point, which leads to a quick split of logs. After splitting the log, parts of the log are removed from the device.

When using the device for splitting wood, the possibility of injuries and wounds is almost completely excluded, since the blade of the cutting part is protected by the body structure and the blade immobility, as well as by the provided stable stable position of the frame structure body. Also, when splitting logs, firewood does not scatter in all directions.
