Catalizatorul se prepara prin aceea ca într-o solutie apoasa care contine acid azotic, nitrat de cupru, nitrat de zinc si nitrat de aluminiu se dizolva o zaharida cu formula C12N22O11 si la aceasta se mai adauga un compus de crom (VI) si, în continuare din solutia care a luat nastere se precipita hidroxizii metalici cu ajutorul unei silitii apoase de hidroxid de sodiu, precipitatul se filtreaza, se spala, se usuca, se calcineaza si se formeaza în tablete.
