Abstract

The power plant uses a fixed weir set up in a water flow path, incorporating an inner shaft (1) containing a vertically displac-d displaced float (4). The water level within the inner shaft (1) is controlled by openings at the bottom selectively communicating with the upstream and downstream water to obtain reciprocation of the float (4) for driving a work cylinder (8). This acts as a double action piston pump for a hydropneumatic press accumulator (30) providing fluid under press for driving a turbine (20) linked to a generator. Pref. the fluid is contained in a closed cycle with the turbine discharge flow fed directly to the suction side of the work cylinder (8).
