PL PL PLThe aim of the invention is to rationally arrange the chambers and channels for supplying and removing gases in coke ovens, in such a way as to enable the use of either rich gases or lean generator or blast furnace gases. In this oven, the heat from the combustion products is used to heat the chamber lining as it flows to the chimney; the chamber lining then releases the absorbed heat either to the air needed for combustion in the case of using rich gases, or to both air and gases in the case of heating with lean generator and blast furnace gases. This can be achieved thanks to two underground channels, located one above the other, connecting the vertical channels of the furnace with two rows of longitudinal regeneration chambers, placed under the furnaces, symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the furnace battery, in such a way that the regenerator chambers of one row serve successively, e.g. as even chambers, for the passage of combustion products and for heating the air, or as odd chambers for the passage of combustion products and for heating the lean gases used for combustion. In the case of using rich gases from coke ovens, all regenerator chambers in one row are intended successively for the flow of products for heating air only. Fig. 1 shows a vertical cross-section according to line 1 — / in Fig. 5, Fig. 2 a vertical cross-section according to line 2 — 2 in Fig. 5, Figs. 3 and 4 longitudinal and vertical sections of the oven according to lines 3 — 3 and 4 — 4 in Fig. 1, Fig. 5 a horizontal section (on a larger scale) according to line 0 — 5 in Fig. 1, Figs. 6 and 7 longitudinal and vertical sections according to line 6 — 6 in Fig. 1. 1 and 7 — 7 in Fig. 2 (small regulating shafts located at the bottom of the pilaster channels are not indicated). The furnace according to the invention is constructed as follows: under the heating channels / and 2 and the distillation chambers 3, underground channels 5 are placed in the wall, connected by passages 6 with the channels / on one side, and with the regenerator chambers 8 by passages 7 on the other. Under these channels, wires 9 are located, connected on one side with the vertical channels 2 by passages 10, and on the other side with the regenerator chambers 12 by passages //. Channels 13 are placed above the regenerator chambers 8, forming a double passage 14, supplying the rich gas. On the passages 14, vertically to them, there are second ones 15 with an outlet to the channels 1-2; at the top of these passages there are calibrated outlets 16, which can be replaced by openings 17-18. Each regeneration chamber 8 has an air box 19. One of the two chambers is provided with a valve 20 for the gas supply and with a flap 21, separating the chamber from the smoke gas 22; both valves operate simultaneously. Chambers 8 are also connected to the flue gas channel 22 by means of channels 23 with dampers 24. The supply of lean gas and heated air is appropriately regulated at the bottom of channels /-2 by means of dampers 25. The operation of the furnace is as follows: When using rich gases, all regeneration chambers serve solely to heat the air necessary for combustion. Rich air enters through channels 14 and 15 at the bottom of the channels /. The air necessary for gas combustion enters through air boxes 19 into chambers 8, where it is heated by the wall, from there through passages 7 to channels 5 and then through passages 6 to each of the channels 1. The burning gases pass through channels 2 from the bottom to the top and, falling in channels 2, exit the latter through passages 10 to channels 9, from there into the chambers and finally through passages 23 to the flue; passages 23 can be adjusted accordingly by means of dampers 24. The combustion products release the heat contained in them to the chamber wall. After reversing the heating direction, the gas flows through the second series of channels 13 and through passages 15 into channels 2, while the air necessary for combustion flows through boxes 19 into the chambers themselves, where it is heated, passing between the bricks, and flows through passages into channels 9, from where it spreads to channels 2 by means of passages 10. The combustion products flow through passages 6 to channels 5, from where they enter chambers 2 through passages 7, where they heat the wall and from there escape through passages to the smoke channel. Since we are working with lean gases from generators or blast furnaces, the regenerators of each series operate as follows: the odd regenerators heat, for example, the air, and the even ones are gas. The first ones are connected to the smoke channel 22 by means of passages 23, provided with regulating dampers. The second ones, intended for heating the gas, are disconnected from the smoke channel 22 by a closed damper 24, but connected to the smoke channel by means of a flap 21, operating simultaneously with the gas valves 20. — 2 — Heating takes place as follows: in the first period, lean gas enters the even chambers through valve 20, where, passing between the bricks, it is heated (Fig. 3); From here it flows through passages to channels 9 and then through passages 10, spreading from the bottom through channels 2. The air, drawn and regulated by boxes 19, passes between the bricks of the odd-numbered chamber, is heated and flows through channels 9 and passages 10 from the bottom into channels 2. The gas and air supply is appropriately regulated at the base of each channel by means of dampers 25, where they combine and, as combustion products, rise through channels 2 and fall into the adjacent channels /, from there through passages 6 to channels 5 and further through passages 7 to chambers 8, in this way the combustion products pass through all the chambers of the above-mentioned row. In the second period of the furnace operation, the reverse phenomenon occurs. Air or lean gas to be heated passes through the chambers 8, depending on whether they are even or odd, and the combustion products pass through the chambers of the opposite regenerators. The inflow of lean gas through valves 20 is mechanically and automatically regulated by covering or uncovering the air boxes 19, flaps 21, and gate valves located in the channels 22 corresponding to one row of regenerators. The gas contained in the chamber and not burned is removed by combustion through the air supply; this prevents the possibility of an explosion caused by inadvertent mixing of gas and air, and also prevents the heat that can be produced by the mass of gas contained in the space between the chamber bricks from being lost during each inversion.
