Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for producing pelleted biochar from dusty biochar, characterized by the following steps: mixing dusty biochar with flour, spray wetting of the obtained mixture using an isolate pre-activated with a radical polymerization initiator, where the isolate is a by-product of the production of fiberboards and has the following composition: i. 50% by weight dry matter, which includes: 60% by weight simple sugars, including 27% by weight xylose and 33% wt. glucose, 2% wt. resinous substances consisting of mono and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons having unsaturated bonds in their structure capable of polymerization, specifically 80% by weight. pinene isomers and 20 wt. bisabolene isomers, 38 wt.%. mineral compounds (mainly sodium bicarbonate) and organic compounds decomposing during roasting in a weight analysis to gaseous substances and ash in the amount of 2.3% by weight; ii. 50% water by weight; adding water to the mixture obtained in step b. in an amount of 2.5% by weight. on the mass of pulverized biochar, carrying out the pelleting process at a temperature of 115 - 125°C, drying the pellet obtained in stage d. until the pellet humidity is 5%, while the weight ratio of pulverized biochar: flour: activated isolate is 10:0.25 :1.5. The subject of the application is also the use of pelleted biochar for the production of soilless substrate based on organic fibers and/or organic material based on peat for growing plants.
