Ościeżnica, wyposażona w okucia stanowiące co najmniej zespół mocowania skrzydła okiennego, posiada co najmniej jeden, łączący ją z dachem, element konstrukcyjny, zwłaszcza w postaci kołnierza oporowego (2), który umieszczony jest na powierzchni ramiaków (11), po zewnętrznej stronie okna. Powyżej kołnierza oporowego (2) są zawiasy do otwierania okna jako przechylnego albo odchylnego. Mogą też być zespoły zawiasów do otwierania w obu tych funkcjach.
