Abstract

1. A device for the pressure-tight securing of tubes in tube plates by expanding the tube end therein, the device comprising a probe (6) introducible into the corresponding tube end, at least two seals (7) which are disposed in spaced-apart relationship on the generated surface of the probe (6) co-operating with the tube to be expanded to bound an annular chamber which is filled with pressure medium to effect the expansion, the device also having a pressure multiplier (2, 4) which is disposed on the probe (6) and which brings pressure medium to the pressure necessary for the expanding step, the pressure multiplier comprising a low-pressure piston (2) adapted to be supplied with work medium an a high-pressure piston (4) which has a smaller piston area than the low-pressure piston (2) and which is adapted to be supplied with work medium and which is operative on the pressure medium in the annular chamber, characterized in that the low-pressure piston (2), which is displaceably guided in a casing (1), is formed with a central bore (2b) into which the high-pressure piston (4) fixedly connected to the casing (1) extends and which communicates with the generated surface of the probe (6) between the seals (7) by way of a high-pressure line (9), the same extending through the high-pressure piston (4).
