Abstract

A garbage shortage prediction method of the present invention comprises: detecting, as the amount of garbage retained in an incinerator, the thickness or the volume of garbage deposited at a drying stage; extracting, from chronological data of the retained garbage amount, a fluctuation component with respect to a standard value of the retained garbage amount during a prescribed evaluation period; extracting a decrement component in the fluctuation component; determining a correction gain that monotonically decreases, or remains constant, with respect to the retained garbage amount; correcting said decrement component by multiplying the decrement component by the correction gain; and employing the corrected decrement component as a decrement garbage index and performing a prescribed garbage shortage countermeasure process on the basis of said decrement garbage index.
