Abstract
A method for manufacturing a glass substrate for a magnetic recording medium includes a step of polishing a main surface of the glass by using a soft polishing pad including a polishing surface. The polishing surface has a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.40 um to 1.40 um in a measured wavelength of 2.5 um to 80 um, and a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.40 um to 2.00 um in a measured wavelength of 2.5 um to 800 um.
