Abstract

A double glazing assembly comprising or including: a frame extrusion (a) provision for the location of (i) a backing rubber or (ii) a glazing wedge and (b) means to engage a glazing bead; a glazing bead extrusion to engage the frame extrusion having respectively provision (i) to provide for the location of a glazing wedge or (ii) to enable extrusion to glazing panel contact or to provide for the positioning of a tape or other seal member to seal between the glazing bead and glazing panel; a glazing wedge; (optionally) a backing rubber, a second glazing wedge, tape or other seal member, and; a glazing panel; wherein (A) where there is a backing rubber, the assembly is such that the provision to locate the backing rubber by the frame extrusion includes a channel having at least a partly constricted mouth for backing rubber retention purposes and no similar such feature to said at least partly constricted mouth channel is present in the glazing bead for the purpose of locating the glazing wedge, there instead being a male projection or projections ("outstand(s)") sufficient to engage within an indexing recess or recesses of such a glazing wedge; or wherein (B) where there is no backing rubber, the assembly is such that the provision to locate the or a glazing wedge is at least part of a zone of the frame extrusion defining a channel having at least a partly constricted mouth that might (on other occasions) have located a backing rubber, and is such that the glazing panel sealed on one face by such glazing bead is, on the other face, in either (a) direct contact with the glazing bead, or (b) a second glazing wedge located by the glazing bead and/or glazing panel, a glazing tape located by the glazing bead and/or glazing panel or other seal member to seal between the glazing bead and glazing panel.
