Abstract

Et radiosignal går over en radiokanal i form av flerbane- forplantning, hvorved et signal som mottas av basestasjonen og sendes av terminalutstyret, er sammensatt av flerbanekomponenter som har forplantet seg over forskjellige avstander og således når mottakeren på forskjellige tidspunkter. Informasjonen som er nødvendig for å beregne retningsvinkelen for det mottatte signalet, kan således ekstraheres fra det flerbane-forplantede signalets ankomsttidsforskjeller. En antenne-gruppe som utgjøres av flere antenneelementer, mottar først det flerbaneforplantede signalet, så danner anordninger (41, ... 4N) for bestemmelse av kanal- impulsrespons et estimat over radio-kanalens impulsrespons fra det mottatte signalet fra hvert antennegruppe-element, hvoretter en korrelasjonsanordning (46) korrelerer hvert kanalimpulsrespons- estimat med et referanse-estimat utvalgt fra gruppen av disse kanalimpulsrespons-estimatene. Videre velger denne anordningen som det mottatte signalets tidsforskjell, den forsinkelsesverdi som gir maksimal korrelasjon. Endelig estimerer en beregnings- anordning (46) retningsvinkelen for radiosignalet som utsendes av terminalutstyret, fra de således bestemte ankomsttidsforskjellene. Ved bruk av en todimensjonal antennegruppe kan både det mottatte signalets retningsvinkel-sektor og elevasjon estimeres.
