Abstract

Datasider (305, 310, 315, 320,325, 330, 335) til en interaktiv programguide (IPG) for TV sendes i samsvar med en blandefunksjon som tillater forskjellige TV-mottagere å gjenvinne bestemte segmenter til datasidene basert på dag og tid for programlisten som en seer ønsker å se. Segmentene blir blandet for å tilveiebringe et optimalt skille i datastrømmen. Det optimale skillet korresponderer med mottagerens inngangsbufferstørrelse og behandlingshastigheten. Sidene er skilt i et antall delsett (640, 680) og innenfor siden til hvert delsett blir segmentene blandet i samsvar med en perfekt blandefunksjon slik at respektive tilliggende segmentpar er anordnet i en rekkefølge som maksimaliserer et minimum av deres mellomsegmentavstand etter blandingen. Minimums-mellomsegmentavstanden til alle delsettene er anvendt for å bestemme en karakteristisk mellomsegment-ankomsttid, som må være stor nok til å korrespondere med mottagerens behandlingsmulighet. Den nødvendige inngangsbufferstørrelse og behandlingshastigheten til mottageren reduseres selv om datainnsamlingshastigheten er øket for alle seerne.
