Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure sufficient picture quality without increasing the scale of a circuit by applying dot interlace in a scanning line of a double speed period to take out a picture element signal through expansion, synthesizing two adjacent scanning lines and recording the result and allowing the reproduction side to separate the expanded signal by one scanning line each. CONSTITUTION:Odd and even fields are divided further into odd-and even-numbered fields as e1, e2, o1, o2, and only picture elements of marked point O at a first field in the e1 mode and only the picture element of marked square point in the o1 mode is sent in the next field, and similarly the operation above is repeated in the unit of four fields. The picture element signal is taken out expanded to synthesize the adjacent two scanning lines, the signal replaced to the original period is formed and recorded, and the reproduction side separates the said signal for one scanning line each and the signal replaced to the double speed period is taken out and the expansion signal of the picture element forming the signal is compressed and reproduced. By selecting the arrangement of subsamples as above, flickering is reduced. Moreover, the said dot interlace is used to utilize the visual characteristic thereby reproducing an excellent picture.
