Abstract

Den foreliggende oppfinnelse relaterer seg til en fremgangsmåte for konfigurering av et distribuert datamaskin- system. Fremgangsmåten omfatter å føre inn i systemet hvor meget prosessorkapasitet som er påkrevet for hver applikasjonsunderfunksjon som opererer på systemet, og hvor mange prosessorer hver som applikasjonsunderfunksjon må operere på. Prosessorene former et redundans domene. Alle ressurser, gruppert sammen i distribusjonsenheter (D.U.), blir distribuert over prosessorene i nevnte re- dundans domene i forhold til kapasiteten for proses- sorene, idet man tar hensyn til forventet belastning på prosessorene, samtidig som den forventede belastning eventuelt baserer seg på historiske data for prosessor- belastning. Et redundansrelokasjons-oppsett blir opp- rettet ved å tildele i det minste en andre prosessor i nevnte redundans domene til hver D.U., i tilfelle av et behov for å relokere en D.U. til andre prosessorer pga. lastubalanser eller andre feil ved systemet.
