Abstract
En inflator (10) for å blåse opp en luftpute (12) omfat- ter et ytre hus (40). En hermetisk forseglet boks (90) som inneholder skiver av gassgenererende materiale er plassert i det ytre huset (40). Boksen (90) inneholder også en ringformet selvantennelsespakke (150) som inneholder et selvantennelses- materiale (164) med en antennelsestemperatur som er lavere enn antennelsestemperaturen for det gassgenererende materiale i skiver (110). Selvantennelsespakken (150) strekker seg rundt ' en base (138) for en tenner (99). Selvantennelsespakken (150) er plassert nær den nedre endeveggen (46) av inflatorhuset i (10), motsatt fra den endeveggen over hvilken den foldede luftputen strekker seg. Følgelig vil ikke luftputen isolere Selvantennelsespakken (150) fra det indre av kjøretøyet, i hvilket inflatoren er plassert.
