Abstract

i Områder av pneumokokkisk overflateprotein A (PspA). i protein av Rxl-stammen av streptokokkusneumonia har blitt identifisert til å inneholde beskyttel-sesfremskaffende epitoper. Et område omfatter 68 aminosyresekvensen som strekker seg fra aminosyreresiduum 192 til 260 av Rxl PspA-stammen. Et annet område omfatter den C-terminale aminosyresekvens som strekker seg fra aminosyreresiduum 192 til 588 og et tredje område omfatter den C-terminale aminosyresekvens som strekker seg fra aminosyreresiduum 293 til 588 av Rxl PspA-stammen. Individuelle oligonukleotid primere og prober og som er beskrevet kan bli benyttet i spesifikke par for å amplifikere pneumokokkisk DNA fra et antall stammer av s. pneumonia for påvisning eller amplifi-kering av slik DNA. PspA av full lengde er også istand til å fremskaffe kryss-beskyttelse mot et antall pneumokokkiske stammer.
