Abstract

The method for bidirectional data transmission according to the time-division principle enables the synchronisation of plesiochronously running packet timing signals with no increase in the data stream jitter component which normally occurs. Two bidirectionally and continuously running, plesiochronously clocked data streams (S12, S21) are divided up into data packets which are exchanged within cycles (Z) between two transceiver stations (SE1, SE2). The cycles (ZSE1, ZSE2) plesiochronously running in both stations (SE1, SE2) are synchronised through modification as required of the cycle length (ZSE2) and corresponding modification of the packet length of the data packets transmitted from station (SE2) to station (SE1). A circuit arrangement is furthermore indicated for carrying out the method. <IMAGE>
