Abstract

The invention relates to a condenser having a housing, which consists of a cylindrical housing surface (1), a housing bottom (3) and a housing lid (2), a steam inlet (4), a condensate collecting chamber (21), a condensate exhaust (16), and having an inlet (12) and an outlet (13) for a cooling medium which is guided inside the condenser housing through piping (11). In order further to develop a condenser of the type according to the generic concept in such a way that it can be used in vertically guided exhaust steam lines, which conduct exhaust steam virtually reduced to ambient pressure, and also to guarantee reliable removal of the exhaust steam from the expansion vessel in the event of breakdown of the coolent supply, the equipment is characterised by a design which is as simple and as compact as possible so that it can also be retrofitted without difficulty in existing plants. <IMAGE>
