Description
Denne oppfinnelse angår fremstilling av alkoxylerte organiske forbindelser ved omsetning av disse forbindelser i nærvær av bariumholdige eller strontiumholdige katalysatorer eller aktiverte bariumholdige og strontiumholdige katalysatorer. Nærmere bestemt angår oppfinnelsen fremstilling av alkoxylerte organiske forbindelser ved omsetning av disse forbindelser,i nærvær av nevnte katalysatorer, med adduktdannende materialer, såsom ethylenoxyd og propylenoxyd.
Den generelle reaksjon mellom en rekke forskjellige organiske forbindelser og et adduktdannende materiale, såsom
ethylenoxyd eller propylenoxyd, for dannelse av alkoxylerte materialer er kjent i faget. Eksempelvis angis der i US patentskrift nr. 2 683 087 at papirartiklers vannadsorpsjon forbedres ved anvendelse av aminaddukter av ethylenoxyd.
En annen masse- og papirapplikasjon omtales i "Etho-Chemicals" av Armour and Company, hvor det redegjøres for innlemmelse av ethoxylert harpiksfettsyre eller ethoxylert stearinsyre i preparater for fjerning av trykksverte fra avfallspapir.
Fornyet avsetning av trykksvertepartiklene reduseres ved anvendelse av disse overflateaktive midler og stabiliserings-midler. I britisk patentskrift nr. 847 714 beskrives opparbeidelse av forhydrolysert sulfattremasse til viskose ved innlemmelse av et propylenoxyd/ethylenoxyd-addukt av ethylendiamin. I fransk patentskrift nr. 1 122 729 redegjøres det for tilsetning av acylarylpolyglycol-addukt til viskosemassen eller -opp-slemningen. I Us patentskrift nr. 2 392 103 omtales tilsetning av alkylthioetheraddukter til viskosemasse. I britisk patentskrift nr. 815 508 redegjøres det for tilsetning til viskosemasse av et addukt som inneholder minst 7 mol ethylenoxyd pr. mol av en alifatisk syre, et amid eller et aldehyd. El6d med flere nevner fordelene som oppnåes ved å anvende diverse overflateaktive midler under fremstillingen av viskose.
I belgisk patentskrift nr. 555 529 omtales et antistatisk middel for syntetiske fibre, hvilket fremstilles ved forestring av 1 mol laurinsyre med 1 mol av en ethoxylert glycerol. I britisk patentskrift nr. 763 215 foreslåes det å anvende ethoxylerte organiske sulfamider som antistatiske midler for tekstiler. I britisk patentskrift nr. 779 491 er det redegjort for antistatisk behandling av tekstiler med et ether-, amin-eller thioetheraddukt med en molvekt på minst 2000 plus et sulfatert fettsyresalt eller en ester av en slik syre.. I henhold til britisk patentskrift nr. 774 035 forbedres farvningen av ull med metallkompleksfarvestoffer i nærvær av et anionisk overflateåktivt middel og et alkylenoxyd-addukt, såsom 6 0 etho-stearinsyreamid. Britisk patentskrift nr. 738 379 omtaler impregnering av tekstiler mot tilsmussing under anvendelse av en oppløsning av et.stearinsyreaddukt av molekylvekt ca. 6000.
Videre beskrives der i britisk patentskrift nr. 705 117 en omulgeringsmiddelkombinasjon for pesticider, som omfatter
en blanding inneholdende en tallolje eller et dodecyl-mercaptanaddukt. I britisk patentskrift nr. 858 687 redegjøres det for emulgerbare konsentrater av pentaklorfenol, som innbe-fatter 1 - 5% 3 etho-alkylpropylendiaminer. US patentskrift nr. 2 552 18 7 beskriver emulgerbare konsentrater omfattende et biolgisk aktivt middel, et alkylmercaptanaddukt og andre materialer.
Polyolethoxylater finner anvendelse i næringsmidler og forstoffer. Eksempelvis nevnes i US patentskrift nr. 2 674 534 anvendelse av sorbitollaurat- og sorbitololeataddukter i overtrekk for iskremstenger. Éthoxylerte fettsyrer, såsom 8 etho-kokosfettsyre, er blitt anerkjent som et forstoff-additiv for å aksellerere dyrenes vekst.
Alky lenoxydadd ukter anvendes likeledes i lærindustrien,1, i preparater for garving, farving og smøring av lær. I US patentskrift nr. 2 89 3 811 beskrives anvendelse av etho-fett-aminer for farving av plantestoffgarvede lærmaterialer. Av
i
US patentskrift nr. 2 946 649 fremgår det at addukter av høymolekylære sukfonamider .er effektive garvemidler.
Addukter av disse materialer finner også mange anvendelser i metallbearbeidelsesindustrien. Ester-, ether- og aminaddukter
er de produkter som finner størst anvendelse. Rengjøring av metall ved avfetting med alkali er mye brukt. På grunn av deres lavtskummende egenskaper foretrekkes addukter av éstere, ethere og aminer fremfor mange andre midler, når metaller sprøytes med alkaliske medier. Effektiviteten av et avfettings-
bad forbedres ved tilsetning av et laurinsyreaddukt.
Ethylenoxydaddukter, såsom sorbitanmonostearataddukter,
har vist seg å være nyttige i farmasøytiske og kosmetiske preparater og anvendes i egenskap av legemiddelbærere, emul-geringsmidler og oppløseliggjørende midler. Enkelte addukter har i seg selv farmakologisk virkning.
Oleinsyreaddukter og enkelte andre stoffer bibringer
lateksgummi mekanisk og kjemisk stabilitet.
I US patentskrift nr. 3 088 796 beskrives et preparat
som beskytter metalloverflater mot korrosjon av et strømmende medium. En av komponentene av preparatet er et ethoxylert alkylamin. I US patentskrift nr. 3 060 132 .angis det at en Ziegler-katalysator kan modifiseres for å hindre tap av aktivitet ved lagring, ved at det tilsettes etho-dodecylmercaptan.
I tysk patentskrift nr. 1 142 465 nevnes det at poly-glycolestere erholdt ved omsetning av ethylenoxyd og/eller propylenoxyd med alifatiske eller aromatiske carboxylsyrer forhindrer ising i forgasseren når de tilsettes til bensin. Andre anvendelser av alkylenoxyd- og propylenoxydaddukter er gitt i Schonfeldt, Surface active Ehtylene Oxide Adducts, Pergammon Press, Oxford, England, 1969, sider 386 - 631.
Disse reaksjoner utføres normalt under anvendelse av alkaliske katalysatorer, som uten unntak gir et spektrum av forskjellige addukter. Ved anvendelse som overflateaktivt middel vil et addukt som inneholder for få adduktdannende molekyler, ikke være effektivt på grunn av lav oppløselighet, mens et som har for mange adduktdannende molekyler, vil være uanvendelig fordi reduksjonen av overflatespenningen pr. masse-enhet avtar drastisk med økende molekylvekt. Det er derfor
høyst ønskelig at addukter har en så snever fordeling som mulig i det ønskede moladduktområde. Normalt vil en syrekata-lysert reaksjon gi slike alkoxylater, men slike katalysatorer gir også store mengder skadelige biprodukter som må fraskilles før produktet kan anvendes.
Det ville derfor være meget fordelaktig med et katalysator-system som gir små mengder biprodukter, samtidig som man bi-beholder den ønskede moladduktfordeling som syrekatalysatorer gir. Slike' katalysatorer ville kunne innsnevre produktfor-delingskurven og gi et betydelig bidrag til verdien av de
fremstilte addukter.
.Det er derfor et mål med den foreliggende oppfinnelse å tilveiebringe en katalysator og en fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av alkoxylerte addukter av en rekke forskjellige organiske materialer under anvendelse av strontiumholdige og/eller
bariumholdige katalysatorer.
Det har således nu vist seg at forbindelser valgt blant polyoler, aldehyder, ketoner, amider, aminer, syrer og mercaptaner kan alkoxyleres ved at disse forbindelser bringes i kontakt med et alkoxyleringsmiddel i nærvær av en katalysator valgt blant metallisk strontium,, metallisk barium, strontiumoxyd, bariumoxyd, strontiumhydroxyd, hydratisert strontiumhydroxyd bariumhydroxyd, hydratisert bariumhydroxyd, strontiumhydrid, bariumhydrdid og blandinger av disse, og alkoxy-leringén utføres ved temperaturer fra 90° til 260°C.
Fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen kan utføres ved omgivelsenes trykk. Man kan imidlertid også benytte overtrykk opp til 7 kg/cm 2. Imidlertid foretrekkes trykk under 4,2

kg/cm . Dessuten kan underatmosfæriske trykk anvendes, men de er ikke foretrukne. Det vil være klart at skjønt anvendelse av overtrykk eller undertrykk ikke har noen uheldig innvirk-ning på fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen, er det imidlertid hensiktsmessig å utføre reaksjonen i trykkområdet fra atraos-færetrykk til 7 kg/cm2.
Fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen utføres normalt ved temperaturer fra 120° til 260°C. Av praktiske grunner vil man imidlertid ved kommersiell drift normalt utføre prosessen
ved temperatur i området fra 150° til 200°C. Temperaturer i området fra 160° til 190°C foretrekkes spesielt. Reaksjonene kan utføres i nærvær av et hvilket som helst alkoxyleringsmiddel som gir et moladdukt av den ønskede type. Vanligvis er slike alkoxyleringsmidler a- eller 3~alkylenoxyder.
I de fleste kommersielle prosesser vil enten ethylenoxyd eller propylenoxyd eller en blanding av disse benyttes for fremstilling av et addukt. Av disse foretrekkes ethylenoxyd spesielt.
Reaksjonsproduktene kan ha et hvilket som helst innhold av alkoxyleringsmidler, såsom ethylenoxyd, men vil normalt ha fra 30 til 80% innhold av ethylenoxyd, regnet på vektbasis. For de fleste formål vil imidlertid ethylenoxydinnholdet være fra 40 til 70 vekt%. Mengden av slike materialer som er tilstede under reaksjonen, er ikke av avgjørende betydning/så-fremt man bare har tilstede den minste mengde som er nødvendig for å gi et tilstrekkelig antall enheter for å nå det addukt-nivå som ønskes for forbindelsen som skal omsettes.
De strontiumholdige og bariumholdige katalysatorer som anvendes i henhold til oppfinnelsen, er basiske katalysatorer som gir de fordeler som er karakteristiske for slike katalysatorer , samtidig som de i stor grad reduserer mengden av uomsatte materialer og uønskede biprodukter som normalt opp-trer ved reaksjoner som gir en snever produktfordeling. Dessuten oppnåes der i henhold til oppfinnelsen at effektive mengder aktivatorer kan tilsettes de strontiumholdige.og bariumholdige katalysatorer. Disse aktivatorer velges blant fenoler, syrer, aminer, amider, aldehyder, polyoler, ketoner, og alkoholer, og deres funksjon er å redusere.forekomsten av biproduktreaksjoner ytterligere og å redusere eller eli-minere den induksjonsperiode som går forut for igangsettelsen av alkoxyleringen.
Represenative eksempler på strontiumholdige materialer er metallisk strontium, strontiumhydrid, strontiumoxyd, strontiumhydroxyd og strontiumhydroxyd.XB^O, hvor X betegner antallet tilstedeværende vannmolekyler.
Representative eksempler på bariumholdige materialer er metallisk barium, bariu.mhydrid, bariumoxyd, bariumhydroxyd og bariumhydroxyd.XH20, hvor X betegner antallet tilstedeværende vannmolekyler.
Mange av strontium- bg bariumforbindelsene er aktive
når de anvendes alene ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen, og de er ytterst aktive når de benyttes sammen med en effektiv mengde co-katalysator eller aktiva tor. Også blandinger av disse katalysatorer kan anvendes.
De omtalte katalysatorblandinger kan anvendes i en hvilken som helst effektiv mengde. Imidlertid vil reaksjonen fullføres desto hurtigere jo mer man anvender av katalysatoren. Store mengder katalysator synes ikke å ha noen vesentlig inn-virkning på fordelingen som oppnåes. For praktiske formål anvendes der normalt minst 0,1% strontium- eller bariumkata- lysator, beregnet på vekten av materialet som skal omsettes, men det er vanlig å anvende inntil 5 vekt%. I de fleste kommersielle prosesser vil der anvendes fra 0,1 til 2,0 vekt% ; basert på vekten av materialet som skal omdannes.
Mengden av aktivator eller co-katalysator som bør være tilstede sammen med en strontium- eller bariumholdig katalysator, er vanligvis en effektiv mengde. Virkningen av co-katalysatoren eller aktivatoren blir vesentlig ved en tilsetning av noe over 0,1 vekt%, beregnet på vekten av materialet som skal omsettes. Det er logisk å regne med en øvre grense , utover hvilken ytterligere mengder aktivator ikke vil gi noen ytterligere fordel. Normalt tilsettes disse materialer til strontium- eller bariumkatalysatorene i mengder av fra 0,1 til 2 vekt%, beregnet på vekten av materialet som skal omsettes. Det vil være klart at disse grenser kan variere betydelig.
Skjønt fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen .er effektiv for alle typer av polyoler, aldehyder, ketoner, aminer, amider, syrer og mercaptaner, foretrekkes det alkoxylat-materialéne velges blant:
a) polyoler som har kokepunkt over 100°C,som inne-
holder totalt 2-30 carbonatomer og som har to
eller flore tilstøtende eller ikke tilstøtende hydroxylholdige grupper, av den generelle formel
hvor R^, R2og R^ uavhengig av hverandre cr lineære eller forgrenede acykliske grupper, alicykliske grupper, arylgrupper, cykliske grupper eller hydrogen, og de ved R angitte grupper dertil kan inneholde én eller flere funksjonelle grupper valgt blant ether-, amin-, carboxyl-, halogen-, nitro-, carbonyl- og amidgrupper. b) • aldehyder og ketoner som har kokepunkt over 100°C,

Det har likeledes vist seg at fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen kan utføres mer effektivt og hurtigere i nærvær av en katalysatoraktivator. Katalysatoraktivatoren kan være et materiale som tilsettes et alkoxyleringssystem sammen med den eller de valgte katalysatorer. Representative eksempler på katalysatoraktivatorer som er anvendelige ' ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen, er polyoler, aldehyder, ketoner, amider, aminer, syrer, fenoler, mercaptaner og alkoholer, når alkoxyleringen utføres ved en temperatur mellom 90° og 260°C.
Anvendelige aktivatorer for de strontiumholdige og bariumholdige katalysatorer som anvendes ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen, er:
a) polyoler som har kokepunkt over 100°C, som inneholder totalt 2-30 carbonatomer og som har to eller flere til-støtende eller ikke tilstøtende hydroxylholdige grupper,' av den generelle formel
hvor R^, R^°9R3uavhengig av hverandre er lineære eller forgrenede acykliske grupper, alicykliske grupper, arylgrupper, cykliske grupper eller hydrogen, og de ved R angitte grupper dertil kan inneholde én eller flere funksjonelle grupper valgt blant ether-, amin-, carboxyl-,
halogen-, nitro-, carbonyl og amidgrupper.
b) aldehyder og ketoner som har kokepunkt over 100°C, som inneholder totalt fra 2 til 30 carbonatomer, og som har
én eller flere, tilstøtende eller ikke tilstøtende carbonylholdige grupper, av den generelle formel

I enkelte tilfeller er det fordelaktig å forhåndsomsette katalysatoraktivatoren med katalysatoren før tilsetningen til alkoxyleringssystemet. Når dette gjøres, omsettes den ønskede mengde katalysator med en effektiv mengde aktivator i et tids-rom av inntil 4 timer, ved en temperatur opp til 200°C. Normalt vil imidlertid en slik forhåndsdannelse eller forreaksjoh utføres ved temperaturer i området fra 25° til 160°C i tids-rom av fra 0,5 til 2,5 timer. Slike forhåndsdannede katalysatorer kan isoleres etter fremstillingen, eller de kan simpelthen.tilsettes som en reaksjonsblanding til alkoxy-leringsmiljøet, hvilket foretrekkes. Mange av de materialer som kan underkastes alkoxyleringsreaksjoner under anvendelse av katalysatoren ifølge oppfinnelsen, er også effektive aktivatorer, både innbyrdes og med andre grupper av materialer.
Representative eksempler på forskjellige polyolreaktanter og/eller aktivatorer som er effektive ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen, er ethylenglycol, 1,2-propylenglycol, 1,4-butandiol, 1,6-hexandiol, 1,10 decandiol, 1,3-butylen-glycol, diethylenglycol, diethylenglycolmonobutylether, diethylenglycol-monoethylether, diethylenglycolmonoethylether, dipropylenglycol, dipropylenglycolmonomethylether, ethylen-glycolmonomethylether, ethylenglycolmonoethethylether, ethylenglycolmonobutylether, hexylenglycol, pentaerythritol, dipentaerythritol, tripentaerythritol, trimethylolpropan, trimethylolethan, neopentylglycol, diethanolamin, triethanol-amin, diisopropanolamin, triisopropanolamin, 1,4-dimethylol-cyclohexanj2,2-bis-(hydroxymethy1)-propionsyre; 1,2-bis-

Representative eksempler på forskjellige aldehyd- og ketonreaktanter og/eller aktivatorer som er effektive ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen, er laurylaldehyd, benzaldehyd,'2-undecanon, acetofenon, 2,4-pentadion, acetyl-salicylsyre, ortho-klorbenzaldehyd, para-klorbenz.aldehyd, kanélaldehyd, diisobutylketon, ethylacetoacetat, ethylamyl-keton, kamfer, para-hydroxybenzaldehyd, 2-carboxybenzaldehyd, 4-carboxybenzaldehyd, salicylaldehyd, octylaldehyd, decyl-aldehyd,, p-methoxybenzaldehyd, p-aminobenzaldehyd, fenyl-acetaldehyd, acetoeddiksyre, 2,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyd, 1-nafthylaldehyd og terefthaldehyd.

Visse alkoholer kan også tjene som aktivatorer ved ethoxylering av organiske forbindelser under anvendelse av strontiumholdige eller bariumholdige katalysatorer. Slike alkoholer er surere enn normale alkoholer, slik at assosia-sjonskonstahten er større (eller pKa lavere) enn for normale alkoholer. Disse alkoholaktivatorer vil således ha en pKa som er lavere enn 17.
Disse alkoholer er de som inneholder en hydroxylgruppe, og som har formelen:

Oppfinnelsen skal beskrives mer inngående i de neden-stående eksempler, hvor alle deler og prosentangivelser er regnet på vektbasis, dersom ikke annet er angitt.
Eksempel 1
I en 600 ml reaktor av rustfritt stål ble det innført 120 g heptansyre og 3,2 g Sr(OH)2.8H20 som katalysator. Etter gjennomblåsing med nitrogen i en mengde av 50 ml
pr. minutt i 1 time ved 150°C ble reaktoren evakuert og temperaturen øket til ca. 175°C. Ethylenoxyd. (EO) ble så innført inntil det var nådd et total trykk på ca. 2,8 kg/cm 2, og opptak av 92,6 g EO ble tillatt å finne sted ved dette trykk. E ksempel 2
Eksempel 1 ble gjentatt, bortsett fra at 2 g bariumhydroxyd. H20 ble benyttet som katalysator. Opptaket av 180 g ethylenoxyd var fullført i løpet av 9 3 minutter. Kåta-, lysatoren ble nøytralisert. Det erholdte ethoxylatprodukt hadde et hellepunkt på -51,1°C.
Eksempel 3
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 2, bortsett fra at det ble benyttet 1 g bariumhydroxyd.H20
som katalysator og 0,65 g benzamid som co-katalysator. Av-vanningen ble foretatt ved nitrogengjennomblåsing i 1 time i en mengde av 50 - 100 ml pr. minutt, mens temperaturen øket fra 100° til 130°C. Reaktoren ble så evakuert til 100 ml Hg ved 130°C. Opptaket av EO var fullført i løpet .av 123 minutter, hvoretter katalysatoren ble nøytralisert. Produktet hadde et:hellepunkt på -51,1°C.
Eksempel 4
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 1, bortsett fra at 120 g stearinsyre Hydrex 450 (^ R)ble benyttet i.stedet for heptansyre. Etter gjennomblåsing med nitrogen i en mengde av 250 ml pr. minutt il time ved 150°C ble reak toren evakuert og temperaturen øket til ca. 178°C. Addi-sjonen,av 61,3 g EO var fullført i løpet av 300 minutter, hvoretter katalysatoren ble nøytralisert.
Eksempel 5
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 4, bortsett fra at katalysatoren var 3,2 g av en forhåndsfremstilt blanding av 10,0 g strontiumhydroxyd. 1^0, 7,8 g fenol og 17,8 g vann. Adderingen av 44 g EO var fullført i løpet av 315 minutter, hvoretter katalysatoren ble nøytralisert.
Eksempel 6
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 2, bortsett fra.at 120 g 2-ethylhexansyre ble ethoxylert. 1 g bariumhydroxyd. H^ O og 1,13 g benzamid ble benyttet som co-katalysatorer. Nitrogengjennomblåsingshastigheten var 100
ml pr. minutt. Addering av 180 g EO var fullført i løpet av 73 minutter. Etter nøytralisering av katalysatoren ble det erholdt et produkt med hellepunkt 51,1°C.
Eksempel 7
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 6, bortsett fra at co-katalysatoren var 3,2 g strontiumhydroxyd. r^O og 1,82 g 1,2-propandiol. Adderingen av 110,9 g EO var fullført i løpet av 305 minutter.
Eksempel 8
Det.ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 7, bortsett fra at co-katalysatorene var 3,2 g strontiumhydroxyd. 8H2O og 3,1 g heptansyre. Opptaket av EO var fullført i løpet av ca. 300 minutter.
Eksempel. 9
En 600 ml reaktor av rustfritt stål ble tilført 150 g propylenglycol, 0,5 g bariumhydroxyd. H^ O og 0,4 2 g nonan-syre. Etter gjennomblåsning med nitrogen i en mengde av 250 ml pr., minutt i 1 time ved 150°C ble reaktoren evakuert og temperaturen øket til ca. 178°C. 150 g ethylenoxyd ble tilsatt i løpet av 4 2 minutter ved et reaktortrykk på ca.

2,8 kg/cm . Etter nøytralisering av katalysatoren ble.det erholdt et produkt med hellepunkt 51,1°C.
Eksempel 10
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 9, bortsett fra at der som co-katalysatorer ble benyttet 2,0 g bariumhydroxyd. 1^0 og 2 ,.0 g f enol. Opptaket av ethylenoxyd var fullført i løpet av 25 minutter. Etter nøytralisering var produktets hellepunkt -45,6°C.
Eksempel 11
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 9, bortsett fra at reaktoren ble tilført 60 g glycerol, 0,5 g bariumhydroxyd. r^O og 0,5 g. fenol. Etter g jennomblåsning, evakueringbg oppvarmning til 178 C ble prbpylenoxyd (PO) innført i reaktoren inntil et trykk på ca. 2,8 kg/cm 2 var nådd. Opptaket av 240 g PO var fullført i løpet av 145 minutter. Det nøytraliserte produkt hadde et hellepunkt på -26,1°C. Viskositeten var 96,7 cSt ved 40°C og 8,17 cSt ved 100°C.
Eksempel 12
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 11>bortsett fra at reaktoren ble tilsatt 10,0 g glycerol,
1,0 g bariumhydroxyd.H^O og 1,0 g fenol. Adderingen av 2 90 g PO var fullført i løpet av 207 minutter. Produktet hadde et hellepunkt på -40°C og viskositet 146,7 cSt og 23,2 cSt ved henholdsvis 40°C og 100°C.
Eksempel 13
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 9, bortsett fra at reaktoren ble tilført 60 g glycerol, 2,0 g strontiumhydroxyd. 8^0 og 1,82 g benzamid . Adderingen av 2 40 g EO var fullført i løpet av 43 minutter. Produktets hellepunkt var -37,2°C.

Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 9, bortsett fra at reaktoren ble tilført 60,0 g sorbitol, 1,1 g bariumhydroxyd.H20 og 1,12 g benzaldehyd. Ved en reakjons-temperatur på 178°C var adderingen av ethylenoxyd fullført i den ønskede utstrekning ved et reaktortrykk på ca. 2,8 kg/cm .

Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 9, bortsett fra at reaktoren ble tilført 150 g propylenglycol, 0,5 g bariumhydroxyd.H^O og 0,24 g glycerol.
Eksempel 18
En reaktor av rustfritt stål og av kapasitet 600 ml ble tilført 120 g benzylamin, 2,0 g bariumhydroxyd.H20 og 2,0 g fenol. Reaksjonsmassen ble rengjort med nitrogen,- som ble tilført i en mengde av 50 ml pr. minutt i 1 time ved 150°C. Reaktoren ble så evakuert og temperaturen øket til ca. 178°C. 180 g ethylenoxyd ble tilsatt i løpet av 49 minutter ved et reaktortrykk mellom 1,4 og 2,8 kg/cm 2. Etter
nøytralisering av katalysatoren hadde produktet et hellepunkt på -2 3,3°C.

Eksempel 24
En 600 ml reaktor av rustfritt stål ble tilført 120 g 1-dodecanthiol og 0,6 bariumhydroxyd.H20. Etter rensning med nitrogen, tilført i en mengde av 250 ml pr. minutt i 1 time, ved 150°C ble reaktoren evakuert og temperaturen hevet til ca. 170°C. EO ble så innført inntil et totaltrykk på ca. 2,8 kg/cm 2var nådd, og et opptak av 180 g EO ble tillatt å finne sted ved dette trykk. Ethoxyleringen var full-ført i løpet av 55 minutter, hvoretter katalysatoren.ble nøytralisert. Produktet hadde et hellepunkt på -45,6°C og inneholdt 2,3% uomsatt 1-dodecanthiol.
Eksempel 25
Det ble utført forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 24, bortsett fra at reaktoren ble tilført 78 g 1-dodecanthiol og 0,6 g bariumhydroxyd.H20. Adderingen av 117 g ethylenoxyd var fullført i løpet av 20 minutter. Produktet hadde et hellepunkt på -5l,l°C..
Eksempel 2 6
Det ble utført et forsøk som beskrevet i eksempel 18, bortsett fra at reaktoren ble tilført 89 g laurylaldehyd,
3,2 g strontiumhydroxyd.8H20 og 3,1 g heptansyre. Adderingen av 133,5 g EO var fullført i løpet av 50 minutter.

Eksempel 29
Som et sammenligningseksempel ble en reaktor av rustfritt stål med kapasitet 600 ml tilført 120 g alkohol med 12 carbonatomer ("Alfol 12") og 0,15 g natriumhydroxyd.
Etter rensning ved 150°C med nitrogen tilført i en mengde av
250 ml pr. minutt i 1 time ble reaktoren evakuert og temperaturen hevet til 178°C. Propylenoxyd ble så innført inntil et totaltrykk på ca. 2,8 kg/cm<2>var nådd, og et opptak av 9 4 g propylenoxyd ble tillatt å finne sted ved dette trykk. Adderingen av PO var fullført i løpet av 12 4 minutter. Etter propoxyleringen ble katalysatoren nøytralisert. Produktets hellepunkt var -17,8°C.
Ved hjelp av den foreliggende oppfinnelse tilveiebringes der således en fremgangsmåte ved fremstilling av adduktalko-xylater med høyt moltall av polyoler, aldehyder, ketoner,
amider, aminer, syrer og mercaptaner ved at slike forbindelser bringes i kontakt med bariumholdige og strontiumholdige kata-. lysatorer. De erholdte forbindelser inneholder små mengder biprodukter og uomsatte organiske forbindelser.
Skjønt det i eksemplene er beskrevet satsvise utførte reaksjoner, er katalysatorene.og aktivatorene som anvendes ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen, meget velegnede for anvendelse ved kontinuerlig utførte reaksjoner. Reaksjonsproduktene fåes i meget høyt utbytte og er av meget høy kvalitet.

1. Fremgangsmåte ved alkoxylering av et materiale valgt blant polyoler, aldehyder, ketoner, amider, aminer, syrer og mercaptaner,
karakterisert ved at materialet bringes i kontakt med-et alkoxyleringsmiddel i nærvær av minst én katalysator valgt blant metallisk strontium, metallisk barium, strontiumoxyd, bariumoxyd, strontiumhydroxyd, hydratisert strontiumhydroxyd, bariumhydroxyd, hydratisert bariumhydroxyd, strontiumhydrid, bariumhydrid og blandinger av disse, idet alkoxyleringen utføres ved en temperatur i området fra 90° til 260°C.

karakterisert ved at der som alkoxyleringsmiddel anvendes ethylenoxyd.
