Abstract

The present invention provides a prion protein (PrP) -free immortalized somatic human cell line in which both alleles of the PrP gene have been completely deleted by homologous recombination. The invention further provides a process for the preparation of said cell line and its use for the production of human recombinant proteins suitable as biopharmaceuticals.
