Abstract
Et flerhopps maskenett kan forbindes til et lokalnett (LAN) ved bruk av en MAC-bro. En eller flere noder i maskenettet kan konfigureres som en bronode som benytter en MAC-bro. Pakker på vei mellom stasjoner på LANet til noder i maskenettet flyter gjennom en av bronodene i maskenettet. Bronodene mottar ikke alle pakkene i maskenettet, men de mottar pakkene som skal overføres overMAC-broen. Etter hvert som bronodene oppdager nye stasjoner i LANet, kunngjør de ruter til andre noder i maskenettet som spesifiserer hvordan disse stasjonene kan nås. Dette muliggjør MAC-brofunksjonalitet mellom trådløse nettverk og 802-LAN. 1
