Abstract
Det er beskrevet en fremgangsmåte for separasjon av olje og vann i en flytstrøm igjennom en gravitasjonsutfellingsbeholder (10) i hvilken flytstrømmen (12) separeres til et nedre vannlag (22) og et øvre oljelag (26), innbefattende mating av en avtaksstrøm (34) fra oljelaget og/eller et emulsjonslag (20) som dannes mellom oljelaget og vannlaget gjennom en kompakt elektrostatisk koalescer (CEC) (38) som har elektrisk isolerte elektroder. CEC koalescerer vanndråpene i avtaksstrømmen og den koalescerte avtaksstrømmen blir returnert til utfellingsbeholderen. En tilhørende separatoranordning innbefattende: en gravitasjonsutfellingsbeholder (10); en CEC (38) innebefattende elektrisk isolerte elektroder; en koalescermatelinje (34) utformet til å tilveiebringe en avtaksstrøm fra en oljefase og/eller et emulsjonslag fra utfellingsbeholderen til CEC; og en returlinje (40) fra CEC for å returnere avtaksstrømmen til utfellingsbeholderen.
