Abstract

For et multikanal audiosignal er parametrisk koding anvendt på forskjeUige subsett av audio iimgangskanaler for forskjellige frekvensområder. For eksempel, for et 5.1 surround lydsignal som har fem vanlige kanaler og en lavfrekvent (LFE) kanal, kan binaural cue koding (BCC) bli anvendt på alle seks audiokanaler for subbånd ved eller under en spesifikk grensefrekvens, men bare på fem audiokanaler (ekskluderende LFE-kanalen) for subbånd over grensefrekvensen. Slik frekvensbasert koding av kanaler kan redusere kodings- og dekodings- prosesseringslasten og/eller størrelsen av den kodede audiobitsfrøm relativ til parametriske kodingsteknikker som er anvendt på alle iimgangskanaler over hele frekvensområdet.
