Abstract

Foreliggende oppfinnelse er relatert til et apparat for deteksjonen av hydrogeninnhold i en gjenstand, hvor apparatet innbefatter en nøytronkilde som sender ut hurtige/energirike nøytroner, en detektorinnretning for å detektere termiske nøytroner, en moderator som bremser og reflekterer nøytroner ved kollisjon, hvor detektorinnretningen innbefatter en lysemitterende enhet som emitterer lys i tilfellet av en nukleær hendelse/reaksjon med et termisk nøytron, en lysregistreringsenhet som emitterer en elektrisk puls/et elektrisk signal når et lysglimt er detektert, og hvor moderatoren er en lysledende enhet anordnet mellom lysemitteringsenheten og lysregistreringsenheten. Videre er foreliggende oppfinnelse relatert til en tilsvarende fremgangsmåte for å detektere hydrogen. Derved er et apparat og en fremgangsmåte gitt for deteksjon av fuktighet/vann/hydrogen med forbedret sensitivitet som innbefatter at den brukte nøytronkilden ikke trenger å være så kraftfull, og at mindre mengder av hydrogen kan bli detektert sammenlignet med tidligere foreslåtte løsninger. Videre er en pålitelig ikke-modifiserende/ikke-destruktiv deteksjon gitt.
