Abstract

En kjent type energiomformer for overflatebølger omfatter et nedsenket, langstrakt rør understøttet av, men som er vertikalt bevegelig relativt til, en forankret flyteenhet. Røret beveges vertikalt frem og tilbake som respons på overpasserende overflatebølger og driver en transduser for å generere nyttbar energi. Forbedringene omfatter: en bevegelsesomformer mellom røret og transduseren for å redusere slaglengde til transduseren og for å øke kraften overført til transduseren; et energidempningssystem for å begrense bevegelsen til røret som respons på betydelige, store overflatebølger, en gravitasjonsmessig forankring av systemet for å absorbere energi fra til og med større amplitudebølger; midler for å justere oppdrift som respons på endrede betingelser, og trykkavlastningsventiler for å automatisk redusere betydelige drivkrefter i røret forårsaket av betydelige, store overpasserende bølger.
