Abstract
Process for regenerating a catalyst filter (28, 30) used to purify waste gases comprises heating the catalyst to a temperature above the operating temperature, and simultaneously introducing a carrier gas to the filter so that the filter is regenerated by simultaneous thermal and mechanical treatment. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for carrying out the regeneration process comprising a heater (34) by which the catalyst filter is heated either directly or by means of a carrier gas to a temperature above the operating temperature of the filter. Preferred Features: The filter is heated to 50-200 degrees C above the operating temperature but below the temperature so that the filter is not damaged.
