Abstract

A caulking gun and cartridge combination is provided with afterflow prevention. The cartridge has a tubular body (8), a forward dispensing opening (9) at a forward end of the tubular body, and a backwall (11, 12) movably disposed within the tubular body (8). The caulking gun has a trough (1) for receiving the cartridge, and a piston (4) movable parallel to the trough (1). A trigger handle (23) is used for pushing the backwall (11) forward within the tubular body and causing a reduction of volume within the chamber (13) in the cartridge. The backwall slides substantially in a contact-less manner within the tubular body, preferebly by way of a reduced diameter (OD) of the backwall (11) relative the inner diameter (ID) of the tubular body (8), so that it is pushed backwardly when the body retracts radially after actuation. Alternatively, the cartridge body may be prevented from expanding or may even be actively squeezed so that afterflow caused by the volume reduction of the relaxing tube body is safely prevented.

Description

Method and part to prevent after-flow of tubes.

The throw-away tubes in combination with the gun is a great invention. Thousands of millions of tubes and millions of guns are sold annually. However, there is a major drawback to the tubes, namely after use it remains about 40 seconds after flowing. This is not only a waste but it also gives a dirty mess where one puts the tube and gun. With a cloth there is also not possible because that cloth is quickly under the gunk and gives dirty hands.

The existing system consists of; see Fig 1.1 a disposable tube. 2. a pressure plate. which is connected to the 3. push rod, which is pushed by 4.the gun every time 5. the handle is squeezed. In the tube, see Fig. 2 No. 6, the kit is in the tube, and the tubes are provided with a suitable pressure part No. 7. which is pressed by the pressure part 2 of the gun, and can be pressed until that the tube is empty.

Patent No. 5,236,105 which describes a method and parts, which in short means that the gun pressure plate must be unscrewed and the pressure plate removed in the tube. A new plate must now be threaded onto the perimeter of the gun. The tube should have a part that resembles the lid of a vitamin jar. Then the back of the tube with the part what is called "female" must be screwed to the gun with the part "male". After use, it is necessary to pull the handle to release the pressure from the tube and to draw a light vacuum to stop after flowing. This invention and method is far too complicated. Half of the guns on the market have a riveted plate. The pressure plate in the tube must be removed which gives a mess and can damage the tube. It is not clear how this invention can be marketed in practice. As a "Male / Female" package or the gun manufacturers must equip their gun with the male. Which means that all, many hundreds of tube manufacturers with content, have to provide their tubes with a "female part".

Manufacturing a threaded portion is remarkably expensive. This is not in proportion to the tube because this part would be more expensive than the whole tube, without content. It is also difficult to screw the tube and gun together.

As a male / female package it could be sold, however half of the guns are unusable which means that the consumer who buys the package will have to buy a new gun, disassemble that gun and get the worst of it every time with every new tube and get dirty hands.

De nieuwe uitvinding is supersimpel;The new invention is super simple;

Zie Fig 3. nr. 9.The tube manufacturer only needs to make a very small change in the mold making the press-on part, see no. 7., whereby two or more kind of barb shaped recesses are melted into the plastic. See Fig 3. No. 9.

Thus, the invention works with any gun and is ready for use. Put the tube in the gun as usual and ready!

After use, pull the piston rod slightly and no more after flowing. When the tube is empty, it is only necessary to squeeze the tube where part 9 is located, the two barbs will come apart slightly and the pressing part can come off without any problem. The same applies to half empty tubes that you want to change. For clarity; When using conventional tubes the rod of the gun is withdrawn, although there is no longer any pressure on the tube, the pressure remains in the tube, so that it still occurs after flow.

The second part of the invention may be used in place of the latter, namely a suitable hard plastic or aluminum sleeve which fits snugly around the tube. The tubes on the market are all made of very soft, cheap plastic. It is this softness that causes pressure to build up in the tube and which is released by after-flow. The invention is a reusable tube which is slid over the tube. Due to the massive character, no more pressure will be built up. The expression also includes straps that are built into the gun. Also latticed tubes.

And also ring-shaped parts. Any form or method that prevents the tube from expanding. Built either loose in or on the gun. The invention can be provided with aids to facilitate sliding and means to tightly enclose the sleeve. For example, a loose position when applying and a tight position when using. In a variant, this can be tightly coupled to the mechanism of the gun in such a way that when squeezed not only force is exerted on the back of the tube but also on the side. After releasing the lever no. 5 see fig. 1 the force on the side decreases while the pressure plate on the back of the tube slides further into the tube with each squeeze.

The most practical implementation is when the sleeve is built into the gun with the opening at the front with a slightly flared edge to facilitate sliding.

After installation, only the front needs to be locked. The tube can be provided with openings, for example to see which tube is in the gun.
