Description
Korte aanduiding: Lichtdooriatend element voor een dakconstructie.Short designation: Translucent element for a roof construction.
The invention relates to a translucent element for a roof construction made of a translucent polymer material, which element has a substantially uniform surface at the bottom and is provided with trapezoidal or wave-shaped projections at the top.
Such a translucent element for a roof construction is known in the trade and is applied to roofs for use there as a sealing, translucent roof construction. Such an element can also be used as a "skylight". Such elements have hitherto been marketed by Flowlight (registered trademark) in Ulestraten, the Netherlands. These known translucent elements are made of polyester and in principle consist of a box-shaped element, wherein a wave- or trapezium-shaped pattern is arranged on the top of the box and the trapped air in the box provides thermal insulation due to the box construction. The drawback of such closed baking constructions is that the production costs are high and that additional work is required due to the possible occurrence of condensation, so that the maintenance costs are relatively high. Moreover, it is desirable to obtain a transmittance of more diffuse light with such elements.
These objectives have now been achieved with the aid of a light-transmitting element according to the invention, and this is characterized in that the element is composed of two parts, namely a top plate open at the bottom, provided with trapezoidal or wave-shaped projections and a double-walled bottom plate with open channels, which bottom plate is attached to the top plate. According to the invention, the bottom plate and / or the top plate according to the invention is preferably manufactured from polycarbonate. Compared to the polyester used up to now, the polycarbonate has the property that vapor is more easily transmitted, but this is also no disadvantage in the construction according to the invention because a semi-open structure has been obtained with the light-transmitting element according to the invention, so that the water vapor which is more easily transmitted from the outside to the inside is again easily passed through and therefore does not remain in the element according to the invention and does not form condensation therein.
The invention is further elucidated on the basis of the following description, reference being made to the annexed drawing, in which: Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the light-transmitting element according to the invention.
In fig. Fig. 1 shows the light-transmitting element 1 according to the invention, composed of a top plate (2) provided with trapezoidal or wave-shaped projections (4) and a double-walled bottom plate (3) in which open channels (6) 'are arranged. The top plate (2) is open at the bottom before it is connected to the bottom plate (3) and is quite flexible or bendable. Such a top plate is easy and cheap to manufacture, especially compared to the box-shaped construction that has been used so far. The double-walled bottom plate (3) is also easy to manufacture as a single part. Furthermore, these two parts, namely the bottom plate (3) and the top plate (2), can be easily and releasably connected by applying double-sided adhesive tape (8) or both plates can be fastened together using glue or kit. With such an adhesive or kit, a more permanent connection between bottom plate and top plate can be obtained.
To improve the mechanical properties of the construction and to control the permeability of vapor, the top plate (2) can also be provided with relatively low elevations (5), which are preferably closed on the outside. With these elevations (5) a good fit with other elements is obtained.
Furthermore, it is preferred that the trapezoidal or wave-shaped projections (4) are closed on the outside with covers (7). These covers can be made of a material other than polycarbonate.
The channel-shaped members (6) in the double-walled bottom plate (3) preferably run parallel. the trapezoidal or wave-shaped projections (4) and are open. Using the double-walled bottom plate (3), good heat insulation is obtained and it is possible to get diffuse light into the room, closed by a roof construction according to the invention.
It is also possible with the light-transmitting element according to the invention to obtain a desired control of the water vapor in the space which is closed in this way.
If such a light-transmitting element according to the invention is used in an atmosphere with an increased content of impurities, it is possible to close off or partially close off the channels (6) on one side.
With such a translucent element according to the invention, an optimal, inexpensive and easy to produce roof construction is obtained. The invention also relates to the separate parts, namely the top plate (2) and the bottom plate (3) used for manufacturing a light-transmitting element according to the invention.
It will be possible for a person skilled in the art to make changes to the described construction in terms of design or choice of material, but these changes are to be understood within the scope of what has been described above.
