Titel: verbindingsstuk voor een buizenstelsel uit hars op basis van vinylchloride, omvattende een afdichtring uit thermoplastisch rubber.
De onderhavige uitvinding heeft betrekking op een < verbindingsstuk voor een buizenstelsel uit hars op basis van vinylchloride, omvattende een afdichtring uit thermoplastische rubber die door middel van lassen in het verbin-5 dingsstuk is bevestigd.
Het is reeds bekend om verbindingsstukken voor buizenstelsels uit kunststof te vervaardigen en daarbij gebruik te maken van een afdichtring uit thermoplastische rubber die door middel van lassen in het verbindingsstuk 10 wordt bevestigd.
Zo wordt in het octrooi BE-A-86.1021 en in de octrooiaanvrage FR-A-2.444.864 een uit polyalkeen vervaardigd verbindingsstuk beschreven dat is voorzien van een afdichtring uit ethyleen-propyleen-dieen-methyleen-rubber 15 die gevulcaniseerd is met zwavel of met een stof die zwavel afgeeft, welke door lassen in het verbindingsstuk kan worden bevestigd.
Een afdichtring die uit een dergelijk materiaal is vervaardigd kan evenwel, vanwege een gebrek aan compatibi-20 liteit, niet afdoende door lassen worden bevestigd in een verbindingsstuk voor een buizenstelsel dat vervaardigd is uit hars op basis van vinylchloride.
In het octrooi BE-A-867.993 wordt weliswaar voorgesteld om verbindingsstukken voor buizenstelsels te vervaar-25 digen uit hars op basis van vinylchloride, voorzien van een afdichtring uit thermoplastische rubber die vervaardigd is uit mengsels van geplastificeerd polyvinylchloride dat nitrile-rubber en polyurethaan bevat, en die door middel van lassen is bevestigd, maar om in dat geval bevredigende 30 produkten te verkrijgen, moet men ten minste éên van de verbindingselementen onderwerpen aan een sterk penetrerende bestraling ten einde verknoping te bewerkstelligen.

Bijgevolg moet men bij deze techniek gebruik maken van mengsels op basis van geplastificeerd polyvinylchloride waarin de reactie die leidt tot het ontstaan van de gewenste verknoping overheerst over de door het ontstaan van de verkno-5 ping veroorzaakte degradatie. In elk geval moet men, om der-gelijke verbindingsstukken te vervaardigen, beschikken over een bestralingsinstallatie, een plaats ter beschikking stellen waar de bestraling kan worden uitgevoerd, en alle voorzorgsmaatregelen nemen die bij bestralingsoperaties 10 noodzakelijk zijn.
Nu is gevonden dat het mogelijk is in conventionele produktie-installaties verbindingsstukken voor buizenstelsels uit hars op basis van vinylchloride te vervaardigen die een afdichtring uit thermoplastische rubber omvatten 15 welke door lassen in de verbindingsstukken kan worden bevestigd, en dit, zonder dat één of andere bestralingsbewer-king moet worden uitgevoerd.
Bijgevolg heeft de onderhavige uitvinding betrekking op een verbindingsstuk voor buizenstelsels uit hars op 20 basis van vinylchloride, omvattende een afdichtring uit thermoplastische rubber die door lassen in het verbindingsstuk is bevestigd, waarbij de afdichtring is vervaardigd uit een gedeeltelijk gevulcaniseerdjmsttjgsel van een copoly-meer van ethyleen met ten minste één copolymeriseerbare 25 comonomeer en tussen 5 en 75 gew.%, bij voorkeur tussen 20 en 60 gew.%, betrokken op het mengsel, van een poly meer van een vinyl- of een vinylideenhalogenide.
Met hars op basis van vinylchloride bedoelt men homo-polymeren van vinylchloride aan te duiden, evenals copoly-30 meren die ten minste 50 mol % van vinylchloride afgeleide eenheden bevatten.
Van de comonomeren die met etheen kunnen worden ge-copolymeriseerd geeft men in het algemeen de voorkeur aan alkenisch onverzadigde monomeren, zoals mono- of dicarbon-35 zuren en esters daarvan, vinylesters, acryl- of methacryl- r r f f» £ Λ * ' ί ’ ί 1 1 È1 y ·: 1 O U V v v1 v 1« - 3 - * monomeren, kooloxyde en zwaveldioxyde.
Het polymeer van vinylhalogenide of van vinylideen-halogenide kan een homopolymeer zijn of een copolymeer, dat met name eenheden afgeleid van vinylesters, van acryloni-5 trile, van acrylesters, van vinylchloride of vinylideen-chloride, van onverzadigde carbonzuren of van vinylethers bevat, waarbij het geprefereerde polymeer polyvinylchloride is.
Mengsels welke bijzonder geschikt zijn om de af-10 dichtring te vervaardigen, evenals de vervaardingswijze daarvan, zijn in het EP-A-0101833 beschreven, waarvan de inhoud bijgevolg door deze verwijzing in de beschrijving is opgenomen.
De mengsels om de afdichtring van het verbindings-15 stuk volgens de uitvinding te vervaardigen, zijn speciaal gevulcaniseerd, bij voorkeur tot een gehalte aan gel van 10 tot 70%, gemeten door oplossen in tetrahydrofuraan, zoals beschreven in het bovengenoemde document EP-A-0101833.
Deze mengsels kunnen ook gebruikelijke toevoegingen 20 bevatten, zoals vulstoffen, smeermiddelen, stabilisatoren en/of weekmakers.
Mengsels die in het bijzonder voldoen om de afdichtring van het verbindingsstuk volgens de uitvinding te vervaardigen, worden gemaakt en verkocht door de firma 25 "E.I. du Pont de Nemours" onder het handelsmerk "Alcryn".
Deze mengsels zijn thermisch stabiel tot ten minste 200°C, kunnen gemakkelijk gevormd worden door injectie of door samendrukken in de gebruikelijke installaties en vereisen geen vulcaniseerbewerking tijdens de vormgeving.
30 Volgens een eerste uitvoeringsvariant van het ver bindingsstuk voor een huizenstelsel volgens de uitvinding, kunnen de afdichtring en het verbindingsstuk uit hars op. basis van vinylchloride afzonderlijk worden gevormd met gebruikelijke technieken, zoals door persvormen; injectie-35 vormen of thermisch vormen, waarbij het vormen van de g ( f f ·: « v w *- v <.
* - 4 - afdichtring plaatsvindt bij een temperatuur tussen 140 en 190°C. In dit geval wordt de van tevoren gevormde afdichtring in het verbindingsstuk gebracht en op zijn plaats gefixeerd door lassen volgens een conventionele techniek, 5 zoals lassen met een hete spiegel, ultrasoon lassen, elek- # trisch weerstandslassen, wrijvingslassen, hoog-freguent lassen of trillingslassen. De afdichtring kan een zodanige vorm hebben dat de bevestiging kan worden uitgevoerd op een binnenvlak en/of een buitenvlak van het verbindingsstuk.
10 Het bevestigen op een buitenvlak van het verbindingsstuk kan nuttig blijken, wanneer men het uiteinde van het verbindingsstuk tegen stoten wil beschermen. Als de verbinding tot stand wordt gebracht door middel van de lastechniek met hete spiegel, wordt in het algemeen een spiegeltempera-15 tuur van 200 - 240°C gebruikt, een lasdruk van 0,1-0,3 N/mm2 en een lastijd van 15 - 60 seconden.
Volgens een andere uitvoeringsvariant van het verbindingsstuk voor een buizenstelsel welke goedkoper blijkt te zijn, kunnen het verbindingsstuk en de afdichtring 20 tegelijkertijd worden gevormd met behulp van de coïnjectie-techniek, zoals met name is beschreven in de documenten BE-A-838058, BE-A-853292, EP-A-0031620, EP-A-0188012, EP-A-0188300 en EP-A-0188301. In dat geval wordt de injec-tietemperatuur van het materiaal waar de afdichtring uit 25 gevormd wordt zodanig gekozen dat de directe fixatie door lassen van de in het verbindingsstuk gevormde afdichtring gegarandeerd wordt.
Volgens een derde variant kan de afdichtring, die is voorzien van een stijve vasthoudring uit kunststofmateriaal 30 bij voorkeur uit polyvinylchloride, die is vastgelast, apart vervaardigd worden door b.v. de coïnjectie-techniek, en kan dit samenstel vervolgens in het gevormde verbindingsstuk gebracht worden en daaraan vastgelast worden via de vasthoudring. Een dergelijke techniek is in het document 35 GB-A-2.144.190 beschreven.

In het verbindingsstuk volgens de uitvinding is het ook mogelijk om, indien gewenst, een afdichtring te vormen die is versterkt door een interne metalen invoeging of dergelijke. In het bijzonder kan deze invoeging een elektrische 5 weerstand zijn, wanneer men van plan is de latere bevesti- ' ging door elektrisch lassen tot stand te brengen.
Het verbindingsstuk voor een buizenstelsel volgens de uitvinding kan een verbindingsstuk zijn van een willekeurig type, om in eikaars verlengde gelegen stukken met 10 elkaar te verbinden, of een aftak-verbindingsstuk, zoals beschreven in het document BE-A-833318.
Het verbindingsstuk voor een buizenstelsel volgens de uitvinding wordt geïllustreerd door de figuren van de bijgevoegde tekening, waarin de figuren 1 t/m 3 een gedeel-15 telijk aanzicht tonen van mogelijke uitvoeringsvarianten van ineen te schuiven verbindingsstukken,en fig. 4 een aanzicht van een aftak-verbindingsstuk toont.
In deze figuren is de afdichtring 1 van thermoplastische rubber volgens de uitvinding door een las 2 beves-20 tigd op de binnen- en/of buitenwanden van het uit stijf polyvinylchloride gevormde verbindingsstuk 3.
In het hiernavolgende wordt een beschrijving gegeven van een praktisch uitvoeringsvoorbeeld van het door fig. 2 geïllustreerde type van een verbindingsstuk volgens de 25 uitvinding.
VOORBEELD
Een afdichtring met een in fig. 2 getoond profiel wordt gevormd door overbrengingsvormen onder gebruikmaking van een uitgangsmateriaal bestaand uit korrels van de hars 30 ALCRYN, met een hardheid van 70 Shore A.
Hiertoe wordt een afgemeten hoeveelheid van het materiaal in de matrijs geplaatst, die op een temperatuur van 180°C wordt gehouden, en na een verwarmingstijd van 10 minuten, wordt het vormen onder druk tot stand gebracht.
35 Nadat de matrijs tot de omgevingstemperatuur is afgekoeld, . 8 i- · i ' ' *1 - 6 - kan de gevormde afdichtring worden uitgenomen.
De aldus verkregen afdichtring wordt vervolgens door de techniek met hete spiegel bevestigd op het uiteinde van het van tevoren door thermisch vormen vervaardigde poly-5 vinylchloride-verbindingsstuk. Hiertoe wordt de spiegel op ' een temperatuur van 220°C gehouden, de toegepaste lasdruk is 0,2 N/mm2, en de lastijd is 30 seconden.
Na afkoelen blijkt dat de afdichtring perfect op het verbindingsstuk is vastgelast, en dat deze ring scheurt als 10 geprobeerd wordt hem van het verbindingsstuk los te trekken, en wel zonder dat de las bezwijkt.

Claims (9)
1. Verbindingsstuk voor eën buizenstelsel uit hars op basis van vinylchloride, omvattende een afdichtring uit thermoplastische rubber, die vervaardigd is uit een gedeeltelijk gevulcaniseerd mengsel van een copolymeer van etheen 5 met ten minste één copolymeriseerbaar monomeer, en 5-75 gew.%, betrokken op het mengsel, van een polymeer van een vinyl- of een vinylideenhalogenide, met het kenmerk, dat de afdichtring in het verbindingsstuk is bevestigd door lassen.
2. Verbindingsstuk volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat de afdichtring is bevestigd door lassen met een hete spiegel.
3. Verbindingsstuk volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat de afdichtring is bevestigd door ultrasoon lassen.
4. Verbindingsstuk volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat de afdichtring is bevestigd door wrijvingslassen.
5. Verbindingsstuk volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat de afdichtring is bevestigd door elektrisch lassen.
6. Verbindingsstuk volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, 20 dat de afdichtring is bevestigd door hoog-frequent lassen.
7. Verbindingsstuk volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat de afdichtring is vervaardigd en bevestigd door colnjectie.
8. Verbindingsstuk volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, 25 dat de afdichtring is bevestigd door lassen op een beves-* tigingsring uit een hars, op basis van vinylchloride, welke vervolgens aan het verbindingsstuk wordt bevestigd.
