Abstract

The probe determines the permeability coefficient of the ground and comprises a tube with a pointed end thrust into the ground. Four filters (1 - 4) are situated at the end of the tube, extending from its point. Through the first and fourth ones a quantity (Q) is forced out or drawn in, while the pressure difference thus arising (u) between the second and third filters is measured. The permeability coefficient (k) of the ground is determined by the equation:- k = Q/Cuwhere C is a constant for this probe, and is determined by the tube geometry and the position and size of the filters.
