Abstract

The adjustable boring bar is for drilling relatively small holes with a high degree of accuracy, the tool tip being adjustable by a screw for a limited amount. The bar has a slot running in its lengthwise direction (16) on one side of which an adjusting screw (18) is accommodated in a tapped hole (17) extending towards the centre. The screw causes the other side of bar to bend. The slot can extend along the centre line through part of a first cylindrical portion (6) and a tapering portion (7) joining onto it, the rear face of the portion to be bent (20) being ground off flat.
