Abstract

An offshore structure mounted on the seabed via support support legs is raised and transported to a new location by means of a floating vessel which is equipped with hydraulic jacks to raise the structure. The free ends of the jacks are raised to come into contact with corresponding support points under the structure. To prevent the damage from impact caused by surface swell, the hydraulic fluid supply is coupled, during the raising operation, to an accumulator which enables the impact shock to be hydraulically absorbed. Device eliminates the need for spacing elements used with the traditional semisubmersible type equipment and also prevents impact damage caused by the swell as the two structures are brought into contact.
