Abstract

The hammer mill has a main shaft with screen wall extending round and clear of it in a curve. Radial supports extend from the main shaft, and carry eccentric auxiliary shafts, parallel to the main one, on which the hammers rotate near the screen wall. The hammers (5) are in the form of rings, whose internal diameter is greatr than the diameter of the auxiliary shafts (4) on which they are mounted. The inner and outer periphery of each hammer can have different degrees of wear resistance, these degrees being so selected that the wear on the inside counteracts that on the outside. Wearing rings can be fitted on the auxiliary shafts, of smaller diameter than the internal ring diameter, and each hammer, can comprise two concentric rings.
