Abstract

The reinforcing system is for foundations comprising wooden piles with foundation wood above and topped by masonry. After exposing the masonry, wood, and pile heads, one or more vertical holes are drilled through masonry and wood and into a pile. A bar is placed in the hole, leaving a space all round, which is then filled with hardening glue. A horizontal beam can be fixed to a wall resting on the foundation, and the bar made to a length such that it protrudes far enough out of the foundation to sustain the pressure load from the beam. A pressure distribution plate can be fitted between the top of the bar and the beam. The bar can be of stainless steel.
